As we left off, our heroes traversed the dangerous mountain peaks of the Cyllage City Gym to face the Gym Leader for their second Kalos Gym Badge. After Ava almost tumbled off the mountain and an intense 2v1 battle, our heroes managed to pull it off. We also got to see a closer glimpse into the growing relationship between our two trainers. Unlike normal circumstances, Elijah awoke before Ava did. He rapidly got cleaned up and dressed and walked out of the bathroom to a surprise. Ava still wasn't awake yet. Elijah wasn't sure why she was still asleep, he'd never seen her oversleep in the 2 months they'd been with each other. He crept over to make sure she was still breathing. "I'm such an idiot..." Elijah thought. Nonetheless, he still checked. As he was nearing her bed, she jumped out of the blankets and scared Elijah half to death.
He doubled over backwards and lay on the ground breathing heavily. Ava sat up on the bed dying of laughter. "You should have seen the look on your face!" she yelled in between laughs. "Sometimes..." Elijah started still trying to catch his breath. "I wonder why I even bother." Ava's laughter subsided and she hopped out of her bed, got down on the floor by Elijah, and hugged him. He hugged her back. "Mornin'" Elijah replied. "Good morning." Ava followed up. It was her turn to get showered and changed. While she was getting ready, Elijah walked down to the lobby for the 'Free Regional Breakfast' that came with staying at the hotel.
He brought up two plates for Ava and him and some food for their Pokemon. He set the food on the counter in their room where they had been eating at the past three days. He then walked to his Pokeballs and threw them out. Scyther and Froakie were soon standing in front of him. He knew Ava kept her Pokeballs in her purse he just wasn't sure where in the purse. He unzipped it and peered inside. He didn't know what to compare the inside of her purse to other than a labyrinth because that's what it was. He saw makeup, sunglasses, and other stuff he probably shouldn't mention. "There!" He said quietly to himself. He tossed the two remaining balls into the air.
Now all four of their Pokemon were happily digging away at their breakfast while Elijah waited for Ava to finish getting ready before he began eating. He pulled out his Pokedex and found a feature that pulled up a map of the user's current location. He found an entire map of kalos on it with a blinking red dot. He assumed that was where he was. He found the closest gym being in Shalour City. He clicked the tab marked 'Info' and found exactly what he was looking for. The Shalour Gym Leader specialized in Fighting Type Pokemon.
Ava stepped out of the bathroom dressed and ready to begin the day. She noticed Elijah was reading something. "I was looking up info on the next Gym." He replied. "Of course you are" She said smiling. "I should have known. Already looking forward to the next challenge." Elijah smirked, "It's what I live for. To be the best." He mentioned.
The two trainers rapidly ate their breakfast and hit the road. According to the map, the normal route to Shalour through the marked and laid out paths was about a week to a week and a half of walking. Yet, Elijah noticed they could shorten that to a couple of days by cutting through the forest between the two cities. "Are you so sure that's a good idea? I think there's a marked path for a reason..." Ava pointed out. Elijah smirked, "A Pokemon journey is half about the actual journey and half getting lost. Didn't you know that?" Ava sighed, "Alright fine. But if we die, It's you're fault." "Bet." Elijah replied.
The neared the edge of the forest and read the nearest sign: 'Cyllage Forest. Beware of Ghost Type Pokemon.
"Looks like our place." Elijah spoke. "To die..." Ava muttered. Our heroes stepped into the dark blue grass of the forest. Noises from all species of Pokemon echoed around them. Ava was legitimately terrified. She grabbed Elijah's arm in fear. "It's alright," Elijah said chuckling. "It's just a forest." "A really creepy one" Ava protested. They heard a sharp cry of a Pokemon to their right. Elijah dashed in the direction of the cry, Ava following closely behind. Elijah peered over a bush and saw a small, lion-looking Pokemon being cornered by two Yanmega. The Pokedex read it as a Litleo. Elijah whipped out Scyther's Pokeball and threw it towards the Yanmega. "Scyther use Night Slash!" The attack didn't make contact with the Pokemon, but they flew off in fright. The small Litleo waddled up to Elijah and licked his palms.
"Hey little guy. Are you okay?" Elijah asked. The Pokemon nodded in consent. Elijah smiled, "That's great." Elijah replied. He reached into his backpack and pulled out a half eaten Poke-Puff from Cyllage City he managed to purchase. The Litleo gobbled it down in less than 5 seconds. "You were hungry weren't you?" He smiled. Ava was actually very impressed. She knew Elijah was great with Pokemon battles, but he was great with Pokemon as well. "Honestly, he's great at everything..." She thought.
The Pokemon starred at Elijah impatiently glancing from his belt and back at his face. "You want me to catch you?" Elijah said pointing to an empty Pokeball on his belt. Litleo nodded back. Elijah took the empty Pokeball and held it out to Litleo. The Pokemon tapped the small, white button on the front. Litleo was caught.
