This is a story of a 14 year-old girl named Ava. She is just beginning her Pokémon Journey in the Kalos Region. She will face friend and foe to try to be the greatest Pokémon Trainer to ever exist. This is the world of Pokémon.
Ava woke up bright and early Monday morning. Today was the day she would be receiving her very first Pokémon! The age in Kalos to be able to own a Pokémon is 14, and today was her 14th birthday. She got dressed, and walked down stairs to a breakfast made especially for her. Her sister Emi was sitting adjacent from her, and her Father was at the head of the table. Her mother was in the kitchen cleaning the dishes.
"Good morning honey." said her parents in sync.
"Morning, Mom and Dad. Hey Emi." She walked over and gave her sister a hug, and then sat down.
She quickly finished her breakfast and packed her backpack, today was the day she had been waiting for, for 14 years. She said her goodbyes, and hurried out the door and into the Kalos Sun.
She hastily made her way down to Professor Sycamore's Laboratory, she hoped she wasn't late. She thankfully arrived at the lab on time to choose her Pokémon.
"Good Morning, Ava," Professor Sycamore said as she walked in the door. "Your Mother told me I would be expecting you today. Happy Birthday."
"Thank you, Professor." She smiled.
She was very eager to choose her Starter Pokémon, she couldn't handle the excitement.
"Well, here are the three Pokémon you can choose from here in Kalos." Sycamore replied as he threw the three Pokeballs he had in his hands into the air. "Fennekin, Chespin, and Froakie."
Ava starred happily at the incredible creatures standing in front of her. She studied each one closely. Her Mother told her to pick whichever one she related closely to, as that would be her soul partner for her life. She closed her eyes and waited.
"Thank you, Professor!" She said as she ran out of the Laboratory with her new Friend and Kalos Region Pokedex and Gym Badge Case.
As she walked to the Pokémon Center to register herself into the Kalos League she studied the ball in her hands. She hoped she had made the right choice. She had to have right? Her heart had told her it was the right choice. Someone behind her started speaking to her.
"I noticed you thinking deeply about that Pokeball in your hands, is today the special day for you as well?" said a boy from behind her.
Ava turned around to see who it was and responded, "Sure is. Turned 14 today and decided it was time."
The boy smiled, "You see, today is also my birthday, I'm from Kanto, I have plenty of other Pokémon back home. My flight just arrived a few hours ago, this is my first time in Kalos." replied the boy. "The name is Elijah by the way."
Ava starred at him with amazement, "First time in Kalos huh? I'd be happy to show you around, I was just on my way to register for the Kalos League."
"That would be awesome," Elijah replied with happiness. "I was just on my way there as well."
The two teens headed to the nearest Pokémon Center and registered themselves up for the Kalos League. They decided to grab lunch while they got to know each other a bit more.
"So, you're from Kanto right?" Ava asked curiously.
Elijah nodded in agreement, "Yep Pallet Town, Kanto."
"Have you been anywhere besides there?" She asked.
"Sure have. I've participated in all the gyms and leagues in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova." Elijah replied trying not to sound like he was boasting.
"Wow... So you're quite the trainer?" She asked very impressed.
"I wouldn't consider myself extremely good, but I'm decent. I placed 10th in the Indigo League, 8th in Johto, 6th in Hoenn, 4th in Sinnoh, and 2nd in Unova. I hope to place first in Kalos if I train hard enough." He replied
Ava dropped her spoon. "I know you! I watched you during the Sinnoh and Unovga league! You're amazing! Can... I... see your Pokémon? If that's okay of course."
Elijah smiled, "Of course, I only have one on me right now though." He took his only Pokeball out and threw it in the air. A Scyther came out. "This is my best friend, and strongest ally, Scyther." He continued
Ava got up and looked at Scyther, "Awesome! How come you only have one Pokémon if you've participated in so many battles." She asked curiously.
"Everytime I go to a new region I bring along Scyther and leave my other Pokémon at home. I like to start brand new and use Pokémon I only find in that region." He replied.
"Oh okay, I get it." Ava responded. She looked over at the Pokeball in her hand. "I guess it's time for you to meet my partner. Fennekin, come on out!"
Fennekin appeared out of the Pokeball Ava was holding, that was her starter. "I felt the strongest connection with her. I could sense the burning passion in her heart, just like mine."
Elijah smiled, "That's how choosing your starter should be. Wise choice."
Ava sat awkwardly at the table she didn't really know what to say. Elijah noticed this, "Hey, so if you're planning on entering the Kalos League you need 8 gym badges here too right?"
Ava nodded. "So, that means we better get moving to the first Gym, you wouldn't happen to know where it is would you?" Elijah asked.
"Yeah, It's in Santalune City, just 5 Miles from here." Ava replied.
And with that the two headed off toward Santalune City in hopes of winning their first Kalos region Gym Badge. They didn't know it yet, but these two would be the best of friends in the future. And maybe a little closer than that.
