Lost History: A Dream to Remember

by Lost Souls

Lost Souls Alice has been running for what feels like forever, she can never stop running. She can't remember what exactly she's running from. All she knows is she can never stop.
That's all she ever knows in the realm of dreams, one constant nightmare. But what happens when she stops running and remembers instead?
My mind was foggy, and my legs burned. I had been running as long as I could remember, despite the fact I was alone and completely surrounded by darkness. I could see nothing, but I kept running from a phantom fear.
Whimpering lightly I collapsed to my knees, tears rolling down my cheeks. I couldn't run, and I could barely breathe. I just kneeled there panting form exhaust.
'Child, why did you stop?' My eyes shot open at the sound. 'I thought I told you to run and to never stop.'
"I can't do it! I can't run forever, and I can't run now!" I whimpered shaking my head. "I can't run anymore"
There was a short pause before the world below me went cold. Opening my eyes I was surprised to find myself in a metal hallway. Pulling my self up, I leaned against the wall slowing the cold metal to chill my spine.
'Then face your fears.' The voice said, completely void of emotion. 'I can not stop you any longer.' There was a small glow before the Red Orb appeared on my lap. I simply stared at it faintly glowed, as a warmth spreading thru my legs.
"You have never spoken. You are talking. What is this?" I asked fumbling my thoughts. I was scared, but my confusion was winning over. "What are you?"
'You should figure that out on your own, I'm not going to spell it out for you.' It responded somewhat exasperatedly. 'And don't even bother to ask where we are. These are your memories we are in not mine.'
Taking a few breaths I reached for my belt, sighing happily when it wrapped around Blue Bell's ball. There was something calming about a familiar object in a world of unfamiliarity.
"Can you at least tell me why?" I asked bringing the orb to eye level. "Why did you wake up now?"
'Because you kneed guidance, now more than ever.' It responded and I nodded.
"Any thought on where this could be?" I asked holding the orb in front of me. "Because I really don't have anything."
Before the Orb could respond I heard loud tapping. Someone was coming and fast.
"I believe this is why you started running in the first place.' The Voice commented.
"No? You don't say." I hissed back as the voices became clearer.
"She's over there! Get her!"
Before I could even move a large Pokemon lunged aiming to bite.
Screaming I shot up from my bed, launching my pillow across the room. Taking a few deep breaths, I stripped. Tossing my pyjamas into the nearby basket. A yelp escaped my lips as the sudden jolt of winter air touched my scalding skin. As nice as it felt it was sudden.
Stepping into the shower I slowly eased the water to a refreshing chill. As much as the winter air was frigid, the cool water reminded me of my past in a way I couldn't explain.
"I hope you aren't going to run a sauna in there! I need a shower sometime today too!" My aunt called, but I could tell by the tone of her voice she was teasing.
We had out heater upgraded recently to compensate for my 'sauna' showers.
"Point me to a hot spring and I won't need one!" I called back shaking my head. Of course, there wasn't one, but I was going to run with it anyways.
We hadn't been in Unova long, but part of me longed for the hear of a natural spring, of a place distant in my mind and yet felt like home. I liked it here, but at the same time, my heart belonged elsewhere Mount Chimney.
"Just give me a moment, I just kneaded a cool shower," I called, turning the water off as I wrapped up. Walking out I could see the concerned look in mylooknt's eyes. "I'm alrighI'm just a very active dream. It's okay."
At her nod, I walked, back into my room and grabbed tgrabbed glowing Red Orb. It was warm to the touch, luring me into a feeling of home.
Collapsing onto my bed I held the orb against my chest, purring softly as the warmth ran thru my body. Like the cold water, anything fiery and warm also filled my mind with calm.
It was clear that the Orb sensed this as it turned up the heat ever so slightly and lured me back to sleep.
