The Insane Asylum: #1

Man, I started this comic ten years ago. Like, I'm not exaggeraing - literally ten years. Nine and a half. Still. Well, might as well take a look back at it and add some commentary.
This is the first appearance of Blue and Azure, both of whom evolved into much stronger characters long after this comic ended. Blue still looks quite a lot like that, but Azure changed from a Happy-Happyist to some guy in an iron mask in an effort to stave off copyright problems if/when I ever published anything with him in it.

A friend of mine made the sprites for a blue mage from Final Fantasy, and I co-opted them for Blue. I made Azure's sprites myself, though. As you can see, I thought that was important to point that out way back then.

I was never satisfied with this strip as a way to introduce the comic, but here it is for historical accuracy.
