The Groudon Blaze Cup

OOC: Why can your Pokemon talk Blazikid? Flygon Master explained that he used aura to communicate with his Pokemon, but you haven't explained at all. And before you ask, I have no authority to whether you can join or not. You should wait for the topic author, Flygon Master.

The battle had started nicely. Arbok started off with a Rock Tomb to slow down the lightning fast Ninjask.

Nice choice. It will both slow down the Ninjask and cause heaps of damage due to the double weakness. Kai thought.

Turned out that Ninjask dodged the Rock Tomb with Agility.
"Now, use X-Scissor!" came from the trainer.

"Slithers, dodge, then Wrap, and Fire Fang."

The Arbok's fangs engulfed in flames came down onto the helpless Ninjask. Ninjask was trapped between the Wrap attack and the Fire Fang.

This has begun interestingly. I wonder what Ninjask will be commanded to do.

OOC: Why can your Pokemon talk Blazikid? Flygon Master explained that he used aura to communicate with your Pokemon, but you haven't explained at all.

Read my Character Bio. Its from the fact that he has been with fire types for so long, he can understand what they say (Like Aaron from the Elite Four of Sinnoh).

Max watched the battle with extreme interest. He simply considered it as a chance to witness his opponents Pokemon in battle. He was secretly plotting how to take down both the Arbok and Ninjask. This will not be easy! he thought.

Daiko gritted his teeth as the Arbok bit down into the plated thorax of Ninjask, as the Pokemon cried out in it's buzzing voice due to the intense heat. Daiko pointed ahead and commanded his Pokemon.

"Ninjask! Use a close range Solarbeam, then use Baton Pass!"

Daiko had a strategy of letting the opponent getting to the attack first, then letting off something expected. Due to the blazing sun thanks to Sunny Day, Solarbeam could be executed with immense speed, and with the charge of photons so close to the Arbok, it would send it flying, though the type matchup would mean less damage, but that's battling.

Ninjask's eyes glowed a pale white as particles of light gathered into a large ball above it's head before letting off the charge into a beam, slamming straight into Slithers, sending it flying before Ninjask hovered quickly into it's Pokeball, glowing with a tint of blue.

Daiko attatched the ball onto his Pokeball holder on his leg and grinned. Baton Pass allows another Pokemon to be sent out in substitute for the other, whilst having all the stats it gained beforehand passed onto the Pokemon put into the battle. Meaning it was time for a slow Pokemon to take action, as Ninjask's Speed Boost ability had taken place.

"Blastoise, let's go!"

Pulling back his hand holding a Pokeball, he tossed it up in the air, letting it hit the ground, before opening, revealing Blastoise again. The ball bounced back into Daiko's hand and Blastoise came out and roared, as the blue light seen on Ninjask covered him, as his movements sped up dramatically, allowing Blastoise to move at the speed of at least a humanoid Pokemon like Lucario.

"All right Blastoise. Time for a speeding Double Edge!"

Daiko ordered Blastoise as it leapt back a little before speeding forward, shoulder first very fast at the snake Pokemon; a white light of power trailing behind the blue turtle.

Try and dodge this! Daiko thought to himself, a smirk on his face.

OOC: I dodged it

Ninjask was obviously damaged by the hit, but thanks to his own preparation for his Fire Type move, was able to send Slithers flying with a Solar Beam. Daiko then Baton Passed to his Blastoise, who was significantly faster thanks to Ninjask's Agility. The turtle launched itself at Slithers in a Double Edge.

"Double Team Slithers, then Gunk Shot!" Jake commanded.

Slithers complied, moving at high speed to create several afterimages, one of which Blastoise's attack passed through. Slithers then reformed behind the Shellfish Pokemon and blasted it in the back with a mighty stream of poisonous gunk from his mouth, forcing the creature to the ground.

Nolan sat in awe of the battle he was currently witnessing. He become a trainer too long ago, so it was natural for him to take spectacle in something he rarely gets to see. Even Vybuch had never seen battling like this. It was clear to them both that these were very strong trainers, and then a thought came into Nolan's mind.

"What if, these guys are entering the tournament. OH CRAP" Nolan thought aloud. Hesitantly, he sent out Zdani. A bright light shown from his pokeball and out popped Zdani, cradled in a fetal position sleeping. Nolan was hoping for an answer, but the problem was, he didn't understand Pokemon.

OOC: Now you all may think Nolan is an idiot, but that is infact not the case. He was dropped when he was born, he's just unique xD

Blastoise hit the ground hard and heavy. Slithers could deliver some powerful blows; truly a powerful Pokemon. But Blastoise slowly got up, a look of hatred on it's face. The look in Blastoise's eyes was intimidating enough to make Groundon itself move if it ever met the Turtle. Suddenly, the Water-Type's eyes glowed a ruby red. Torrents of water started to appear out of the ground; the power it was giving off was tremendous, so explaining the sudden blast of water erupting from the ground.

"Torrent." Daiko said, a serious look on his face, before locking his eyes with Jake's, across the battlefield.

"Sorry Jake, you've just stumbled across Blastoise's ability. Blastoise will eventually transfer all of this power into sheer concentration. And when he's focused, so am I. Prepare to see this round ended."

Blastoise took no time in doing exactly what the cream - haired Trainer had in mind, since they'd known each other for so long, they could almost tell what each other were going to do, so Blastoise did just that. He let off a powerful roar, as his duel cannons folded out of his shell and started to rumble due to the pressure, as Blastoise fired a Hydro Pump straight at Slithers. Due to Torrent, the move was even more powerful, and due to having a straight aim at the Cobra, it would take a real professional to dodge the attack.

Alex sat down to watch the explosive battle and thought "This tournament is getting interesting."
He began to make mental notes of strategies and pokemon," This won't be easy"
Alex saw the boy he had raced to mount chimeney and walked over to him."Looks like you won the race! Oh I'm Alex by the way."He held out his hand and gave him a chesto and sitrus berry.

The Blastoise's Attack struck Slithers directly in the neck, it was over for him. The Cobra Pokemon fell to the floor, dazed, and Jake raised a Premier Ball and recalled his partner. " Impressive, the Pokemon that can take Slithers' Gunk Shot is rare, let's see how you do against Spikes!" Jake called as he threw a Great Ball, once again releasing the Cactus/Scarecrow hybrid. "Start with Cotton Spore, into Sandstorm, followed by Needle Arm!" Jake called out.

With a "Tuuurne…" Spikes complied, opening her mouth to release cotton spores throughout the field, slowing her opponent down, she then launched sand from her "hands" at high speeds, as Jake explained, "You see, Spikes has an ability of her own, it's called Sand Veil, and it makes her near impossible to hit while she hides out in a Sandstorm." As Jake finished, a green glow became obvious through the sand, as Spikes smashed the Shellfish Pokemon in the chin with her Needle Arm.

After watching the Arbok go down, Luke muttered to Lillith, "Looks like we've got some competition already. You up for it Lillith?" With the look that came from Lillith, he knew she didn't have to answer. "Come on, Lets go see whats happening." Luke walked through the crowd that had gathered until he saw a Black Charizard next to a trainer.
Said Lillith,

Blastoise tried to move to free himself from the spores, but it was too late. He took another hard hitting blow from the walking cactus, this time due to the type matchup and Blastoise's current stamina, it took the uppercut and flew through the air, sliding across the ground. It was over for Blastoise as well. Daiko looked in awe. It took a lot of skill to take down Blastoise, especially when it was using Torrent. Pulling out the Pokeball, he called Blastoise back and laughed. Jake was really something. In silence, he grabbed another Pokeball; this one being a blue and yellow quick ball, he hurled it down into the sandstorm, and out appeared a Gardevoir, it's eyes never moving off the Cacturne's, until they glowed yellow, and Gardevoir dissapeared into the sandstorm, just like Spikes. Syncronise had been taken into effect. Sure, the sand still hurt the psycic, but it had a lot of stamina.

"Now Gardevoir, Shock Wave."

Gardevoir charged a yellow light in her hands, and held it up, as it burst into shocks of lightning spreading across the area. Since Spikes would be hard to find, this was the perfect move.

Shock Wave never misses.

The lightning crashed into Spikes, giving away it's tell tale outline due to the burst of light. Daiko looked ahead and saw the perfect oppertunity.

"Follow up with Focus Blast."

Gardevoir charged another ball of energy into her hands as it formed a light maroon color, and fired the large ball of aura directly at the Cacturne.

Spikes was hit by Shock Wave, a minor attack due to her type, but the follow up Focus Blast would not sit well. "Spikes counter with your own Focus Blast!" Jake called to his Pokemon.

Spikes recovered quickly, pointing both arms at the Embrace Pokemon's incoming attack, charging a ball of pure energy, and launched it mightily at the incoming ball, causing a fairly large explosion which forced both Pokemon back somewhat. "Now, Faint Attack!" Jake commanded. Spikes disappeared into the sandstorm, reappearing behind Gardevoir and striking it in the back.

OoC: Not quite. Heh.
---

BiC: "Now, Psycic!"

Just before the punch was about to hit, Gardevoir covered Spikes with a pink light, keeping it in place and stopping the hit connecting, then releasing a powerful blast of concentrated mental power, before turning around and pulling back it's right fist.

"That's my girl, now, Ice Punch!"

Garvevoir sent it's now freezing fist right at the Cacturne; this type matchup could mean the end of the Cactus.

OOC: Two questions,
1. Can I join, I'll delete if not. (Sorry if I'm late.)
2. Do I have to have a fire type (becuase almost everyone else here has a fire type)

"Here we are again Blade" Said Leaf "So what do you want to do?"
"Scep Scep tile?" Came the reply from Leaf's Trusty Partner Blade
"Want to go vis..." In mid speech Leaf was interrupted by a flyer that blew down to his feet.
"Hello, whats this then, the Groundon Blaze Cup on top of Mt. Chimney"
"Sceptile!" Blade said once more "Sceptile Sceptile!"
"It's settled then we will challange the Groundon Blaze Cup, onwards." And with that Leaf and Blade left for the zipwire and the competition that lay ahead.
After signing up they left for the waiting room, just to be diverted by a pokemon battle, and arrived in time to see Garvevior use Ice Punch once more.

OOC: not quite Toru, Spikes is Grass/Dark, your psychic is null and void.

Spikes was unable to land her shot, a psychic pushing her back slightly before her immunity to psychic power took over, and she landed on her feet. "That's my girl, now, Ice Punch!" Daiko called to his Gardevoir. Jake countered with "Back into the storm, Sunny Day, then Solarbeam!"

Spikes disappeared once more, avoiding the deadly, freezing punch, then created a ball of light in her "hands" and launched it up, splitting the sandstorm and causing the sun to shine mightily. Spikes then created another ball of energy in front of her mouth nigh-instantaneously and sent an immense blast of pure light energy at the Embrace Pokemon, enhanced by the shining sun.

OOC: Just because of this battle, I am starting to want to train a Cacturne.

Kai was amazed with how the battle was being carried out. Each had lost one Pokemon. Now it was Gardevoir versus a Cacturne in the Sandstorm. Cacturne's Sand Veil was versatile in this weather, but Gardevoir's Synchronize ability allowed it to have the same benefits as Cacturne from the Sandstorm.

Gardevoir foolishly tried a Psychic attack, then an Ice Punch. Cacturne flew into the sand to avoid the punch. The Sandstorm suddenly dissipated as Cacturne used Sunny Day. Solarbeam soon followed and immediatly, a beam of light was sent toward the Psychic Pokemon.

Max watched as more people gathered to watch the battle. A certain one caught his eye. It was a boy with a Sceptile looming over him. "What say we go over and introduce ourselves? It would help to get to know the competition. You know, so we can learn their weaknesses." said Max with a sly smile.

Max pranced over to the boy, Bulbasaur still perched upon his head. "Hey. I'm Max" he said as he stuck out his hand. "And yours?"

Cerebus went back outside, looking for Tony, "A there you are." Cerebus said running over to Tony.

The two of them then continued towards the volcano.

Rex

Resident Furry
Cerebus eventually joined him outside the Pokemon Center, and they started off for Mt. Chimney. Tony knew the mountain well, Team Magma used to have a base inside, but it had been abandoned for several years. There was talk amongst the Commanders about reopening the base, but Tony had no idea if anything would come of it.

"Yo, I'm Leaf, and this here is Blade" Leaf said to Max, also sticking his hand out to greet him
"SCEPTILE!!!" Smiled Blade "Scep Scep"
"Oh by the way, I ussually like to introduce, my pokemon as well" And with that Leaf tossed all his pokeballs, suddenly five poofs of light appeared, then they disappeared and in place, stood five pokmon, a Dodrio, its far right head trying to groom itself, a Blissey, a Luxray,Minun and Plusle. All the Pokemon let out a jolly cheer and made their way other to Leaf, after a short play with his team he said,
"And your team?"

Nolan continued to poke Zdani in the eye unceasingly, trying to get him to wake. Regardless of the loud, explosive battle going on, Zdani did not move at all. Then, Nolan got an idea.

"Vybuch, can you get Zdani to wake up?"

Vybuch looked at Nolan and grinned. She put her hands to her hips and took in a large amount of air. Finally, Vybuch let out a very loud blast that made Zdani, including the people in the immediate area, cringe. He opened his eyes and appeared extremely aggravated. What followed was a long chase back up the mountain where Nolan had just fell down. What was so convenient about this was that the tournament was going to start not too long from now.

When they reached the top of the volcano Cerebus had to hold his hood infront of his mouth to prevent suffication.
"I have an idea, lets go and sign up so we dont have to breath in this stuff, good idea?" Cerebus asked, running over towards the sign up desk.

Rex

Resident Furry
Within minutes they reached the summit. Cerebus seemed to have some trouble breathing in the ash. Tony, being a member of Team Magma, had been around the stuff longer, so he didn't have those problems. None-the-less, he hurried after Cerebus to the sign-up area, getting in line behind the man.

((OOC:The tournament will start in 2-3 days so after that you won't be able to join.))

As the battle progressed Alex saw the gardevoir try to use psychic on the cacturne,"That won't work." Alex thought. suddenly he heard someone say, " Hey cool Charizard."

Liam raced up the mountain mounted on his pokemon companion. It was a Stantler, His first pokemon that he had caught near his hometown of goldenrod city in the region of Johto.

Liam had been a trainer for a few years now and had proven himself quite formidable in battle. He had spent the last few months training with his cousin who is the Gym leader back in Goldenrod preparing to prove himself at this tournement.

He had just arrived in Hoen by train and was worried about being to late to enter the competition. He realised he still had just over an hour to register.

"Thanks for the ride Stantler!" said Liam as he and his companion arrived at the top of the mountain. The two then spotted a crowed of people who were watching what seemed to be a battle. " Battling before the tournement? Bad move, now everyone will know their weakness's". " Staaaan...." replied Stantler in agreement.

Liam and Stantler walked casually over to two trainers who seemed to be introducing themselves. One of the trainers seemed to have all of his party out of their pokeballs which included a powerful looking Sceptile. The other seemed to have only onne pokemon out at the moment which seemed to be a balbasaur resting on his head. "Come on Stantler lets go introduce our selves to those two.

Liam said to the trainers " Hi, I am Liam from Goldenrod city and this is Stantler!"

Daiko's eyes narrowed. To attack with Psycic on a Dark type... It was a mistake he'd always make. He watched closesly to see what happened to Spikes, but quickly closed his eyes as sand flew into them. Blindly feeling through his bag, he pulled out his Sandstorm goggles and attatched them onto his head, grinning as usual. He liked his goggles. Both stylish and protective! Suddenly, he saw a light proceeding through the sandstorm.

"Another Solarbeam... Time to step it up a little... Time for a combo! Gardevoir, use your custom protect!"

Gardevoir pulled up a rectangular green shield on it's left arm, deflecting the solarbeam up into the air.

"Now, Icy wind on your sheild!"

Gardevoir blew a chilling wind onto to shield, turning it a frosty turquoise.

"And now use Teleport to get behing Cacturne then slam the Icy Protect into Cacturne!"

Gardevoir dissapeared in a pink light, before warping behind Spikes and slamming the sheild into her.

"Hows that for compremising, Jake?" Dakio quereyed, chuckling to himself.

Gardevoir's unique attack would mean the eand for Spikes, however… "Spikes, Drain Punch, break the ice!, then use the... Magic Bomb on Gardevoir!" Jake commanded seconds before Gardevoir struck.

Spikes turned at extreme speed, her "fist" surrounded by a swirling green and yellow as she smashed the ice surrounding Gardevoir, before crossing her arms and swinging them to launche several glowing leaves, which began homing in on Gardevoir. Spikes proceeded to do a somersault, then open her mouth to fire off many eplosvie seeds, which now followed the leaves and were surrounded by them as they struck and exploded on and around Gardevoir. "How's that for combinations Daiko?" Jake shouted back across the field at his opponent.

Max was quickly distracted by a new face appearing in the crowd. It was another boy with a Stanler trotting beside him. The new kid introduced himself as Liam. Max greeted Liam and returned his attention to Leaf. "Sorry buddy, but if I were to show you my Pokemon, it wouldn't be a surprise, now would it?" questioned Max.

Ooc: i dont have my team yet so sorry about the delay

Ooc: Can we include a pokemon in our team that we havnt actually trained in the games before? This is the first RP that I have participated in.

Liam was greeted by the trainer called Max. He then looked at his watch and realised how much time he had left to register for the event.

Liam and Stantler said their goodbyes and hurried off to the registration desk where a couple of other trainers appeared to be.
Liam filled out the forms and went outside and sat on a rock not to far from the ongoing battle was taking place.

"come on Stantler lets watch the battle".

OoC:@Dyslexic Reindeer, yes you can, although legendaries are banned. If you want the full picture, I suggest reading the PRP rules.

BiC: Daiko didn't even reply to Jake. The second combination attack shaved off almost all of Gardevoir's health off of her. It was blasted back, skidding on the rocky ground to the left of Daiko looking at him wearily. Daiko helped the green haired Pokemon up, as he murmured in her ears as he guided it forward.

"Use Memento."

Gardevoir staggered up to the centre of the battlefield, it's eyes wet with tears, as it floated up into the air; it's vibrant colors fading away into black and white, as it dissapeared into thin air; Daiko actually had it snug in it's Pokeball, knocked out, as so are the effects of Memento. Not only does it K.O. the Trainer's Pokemon using the attack, it also softens the opponent's Pokemon, making it grief at the horrid defeat of the enemy, meaning Spikes was going down in the next attack.

Daiko hurled out a Pokeball from his leg belt and caught it as it bounced back whilst releasing Ninjask again.

"Use Wing Attack now! Peirce Spikes' defence and go in for the knockout!"

Ninjask sped straight at Cacturne , it's wings glowing white as they crashed into the Cactus, before returning back to it's side of the battlefield.

"Yeah, that was a nice combo Jake, but sometimes the basics get the job done, huh?"

Spikes fell, hard, the strike from the Ninjask after so much weakening was too much, and she finally fainted. "I suppose they do, Daiko." Jake replied, returning Spikes to her Great Ball. He then tossed a standard Pokeball into the air, and in a burst of light, released a tan and purple, cat like Pokemon onto the field.

"Sneaks, use Assist, twice!" The Delcatty, began to glow, then released an ear piercing howl. She then began glowing again, before sending a burning wave of super heated wind at the Ninja Pokemon, covering nearly the entire field with the roaring heat, even starting a few small brush fires.

"Heat Wave," Jake muttered to himself, a hint of the usual arrogance in his voice, "excellent."

Alex was surprised to see the Delcatty belonging to the trainer that subdued Carly use heatwave by assist."He'll be one to look out for." he thought.
Suddenly a huge team of Salamence lifted a huge screen above the crater of the volcano."What the..."
Speakers all over the area began to spring to life with energetic music as the Lavaridge gym leader,Flannery appeared on the screen,"How am I supposed to know it's on.What? Oh!!Welcome trainers! I am pleased to announce that the Groudon Blaze Cup is officially open. Trainers have come from all over Johto, Sinnoh, Kanto and more to gain Groudon's favor by winning this!"

A woman came behind Flannery and carried something under a cloth and placed it on a table. She removed the cloth and revealed a huge golden cup with a roaring gilded groudon on the bowl. Inside it was a clear round jewel with a flame shaped ruby inside the clear part, as if some one had frozen a fire inside of diamond. The Groudon Blaze.
"To reach this wonderous treasure, you must first defeat your fellow trainers on four different fields of battle. Then finally battle the remaining above the powerfull Mt. Chimeney crater!"
The scene changed and Alex could see th four different fields. One was in the dessert, another in the ashfields near Fallarbor town, another was in the forest on the mountain face, the last was in the hot springs."So good luck trainers and may the best win!"The faces of trainers began to line the screen with symbols next to them showing whaere their first battles were.
"Looks like my first battle is in the dessert, perfect!"

Luke was watching the battle when he noticed to big screen being lifted up by the Salamence. Then, as Flannery appeared on the screen, he whispered to Lillith "There's sis, I wonder how she going?"
She said snickering at the first part of the introduction.
"Wow, that's the Groudon Blaze. Think how good it will look with us holding it."

Liam looked up from where the battle was taking place to see the giant screen appear. He looked up and down until he saw his face next to the hot springs field. "Excellent" he thought "Krill will be right at home on a water field!".

He then looked at the face that was next to his on the screen. "Who might that be?" he said aloud quietly.

Cacturne had been defeated by the Ninjask. Its trainer then sent out a Delcatty. Kai thought those Pokemon were extremely cute. As soon as Delcatty launced a perfectly Assist'd Heat Wave, a young woman appeared on a humongous screen carried by Slamence. After her announcement, Kai saw his face next to a familiar face. He had just noticed the kid that had been sitting on a rock. His face was right next to his on the huge monitor...

After he signed up Tony was content to watch a battle progress. Those People were insane to show their Pokemon already. As always, the Team Magma Commander made sure to watch their styles closely. Eventually, a Salamence hoisted a screen into the air. When it turned on, Flannery appeared. She did a quick introduction, before the screen turned to show their names, and where they would be fighting. He would be headed to the Ash Fields surrounding Fallarbor Town.

"I don't want to walk all the way there," Tony sighed, "I guess showing one more Pokemon won't hurt, long as I don't show his fighting partner."

He returned Seth to his Poke Ball, much to the Buizel's annoyance, and let out Blitz, his Flygon. He showed the Flygon where he wanted to go, climbed on, and made sure to hold onto his hat.

A massive screen was suddenly carried up by an immense, light blue dragon, Salamence. "Hold that Sneaks." Jake said to his Pokemon, who recalled the heated air, and launched it straight up instead. Flannery, Lavaridge's gym leader, gave a mildly flustered speech before revealing the prize for the tournament, the Groudon Blaze, an impressive gem, and hopefully worth the challenge. "Well, Daiko, here's hoping we meet in the finals!" Jake called as he recalled his Delcatty. As he checked the screen, he saw he would be battling on a desert field. " Interesting…" Jake thought aloud as he began strolling toward the Pokemon Center.

As Jake entered the Center and left his Pokemon with the rather kind nurse, he sat on a chair, taking a book from his backpack and began reading up on desert strategies as he awaited his Pokemons' recovery so he could make his flight to the battlefield.
