Private/Closed The First Annual Solaurea City World Tournament! (RP)

Finion had to say he was impressed by the Loki’s tactics. Using the ice to speed up his Pokemon was not only a brilliant idea but one that probably required a lot of training. “Block it with an iron tail!” Despite his command he wasn’t sure how well it work. Sparky was pushing himself as hard as he could but Finion didn’t know how much longer that would be for.
Permafrost slammed into Sparky’s metal tail, held across his body like a shield. The two steel type moves caused sparks to spray out onto the pitch as the gyro ball span against iron tail. Sparky was struggling to hold Permafrost back as the two were locked into a battle of strength. “Discharge if you can” The Pachirisu focused, his face scrunching up as he kept his tail metallic but also used the electric type attack on Permafrost. It was brief however, Sparky needed all his strength to keep Permafrost back with the iron tail. The Pachirisu was stuck and struggling.

"Blocking the Gyro Ball with Iron Tail was an excellent idea on Finion's part, as Gyro Ball is weakened due to Sandslash's speed deficit. The Iron Tail's impact should blow it back quite a bit." Wolf commented on the move. The sound of the two moves clashing echoed in the arena, prompting loud cheers from the spectators.

Finion and Loki both seem amazing trainers. It would be an honour to face either one of them. That is, if I get past Shiori. Who is that guy?

The Discharge hit, doing decent damage as it landed a critical hit. "This battle is just making both of our Pokémon tired... I have to hit hard, harder than ever...", he revised," At this point, I couldn't care if it was a draw... Use Blizzard, once more!" The Sandlsash charged a blizzard in it's mouth, then blasted it at Sparky.

Both Finion and Sparky panicked for a moment but the two were in sync enough to react in time. Loki was going all out, recklessly so in what seemed like a last ditch effort. Finion had no other choice, he had to do the same.
“Drop the iron tail then use thunder!” The gyro ball finally connected with Sparky and knocked him away, far enough for him to cast a thunder before getting hit by the blizzard. The two moves intertwined and passed through each other, the blizzard shiny with yellow light before battering into Sparky and knocking him back. It was enough to faint the little squirrel, the Pachirisu lying on the ground knocked out.
Thankfully Sparky was close enough for Finion to retrieve him, the trainer walking out onto the pitch and scooping the Pokemon in his arms before heading back.

Of course, the Sandslash also was knocked out as well. "Permafrost!", he cried, from his designated area. He ran to her, crying a little bit. "No!", he yelled, holding her, fainted. He cried, and Permafrost woke up, making a 'Ash' sound. It fell back unconscious, into Loki's arms. Sadly, he carried back his starter, gently laying it near his spot. "Verde, come on out!", he said, throwing out the Great Ball. Verde, once again, came on the battlefield.

Sparky snuggled into Finion’s arms, whining a little bit as he attempted to move. “Hey, hey calm down alright” He spoke softly to his Pokemon in his arms, taking his hat off and setting it on the ground. “You did it, you can rest alright” Finion carefully lowered the Pachirisu into the upturned hat, Sparky snuggling into the warm space and falling back unconscious. He gently stroked the squirrel Pokemon behind the ear before returning his attention back to the pitch.

Him and Loki had to Pokemon left. He had a Tropius and Garchomp whilst Loki had a Furret and a Tangrowth, the latter being the one had decided to sent out. His eyes narrowed at the sight of the grass type. It had single handedly taken out two of his Pokemon and he didn’t doubt that Verde could take down a third one. He’d had a good while to think about how he’d take out the Pokemon but he wasn’t entirely sure about any of his strategies. He decided to go for the one he was most sure about.

“Garfield get back out here” The Garchomp once again burst out the Pokeball in an explosion of light, noise and fury. He was still bruised and injured but he was full of energy again. He was also not in the best of moods, being substituted earlier had not exactly made the Dragon type pleased and once again he was refusing to listen to Finion’s commands. Garfield jumped into the air, enveloping himself in a blue flaming energy and then diving towards Tangrowth using dragon rush.

The Dragon rush slammed into the vines, almost ripping through them but ultimately not being able to. “Garfield you gotta listen to me!” But the Garchomp wasn’t listening at all. It dropped to the ground only to begin to get pummelled by the power whips immediately. The dragon was pushed back by the force of the attack but just when it looked like he was getting overwhelmed he moved his arms.
Garfield held the vines tight with both of his claws, preventing the attack from hitting him anymore. With a grunt of effort he yanked the vines back and with that one great tug he pulled the Tangrowth towards him. Once close enough he’d lunge forwards to slam an Iron head into the grass type, knocking him away.
“Garfield we have to work together!” The dragon type snorted in response to his trainer. The last time he had listened to Finion he’d almost got blown up. No way was he listening to that twerp again.

Verde nearly got concussed from Iron Head. "Maybe we could use their unbalanced bond as a ledger...", Loki mumbled," Use Leech Seed!" The Tangrowth shot seeds at the ground underneath the two Pokémon. They grew around Garfield, starting to wrap around him. Nutrients were being absorbed into Verde, sapping away at Garfield's health. Now we just need to be patient...

There was that dang move again. Leech seed. It had been the downfall of his Infernape and he was sure it would be the downfall of his Garchomp. For a moment Finion got angry, just like Garfield but they were far from synced. Finion was angry at himself whilst Garfield was angry at everything.
“Garfield use dragon ru-“ Once again the Garchomp didn’t listen, instead it used flamethrower. The fire built up in its mouth and the spewed out towards Verde.

"No-", Loki quieted himself. I guess a Flamethrower coming off of a low-health Garchomp…, he said it in his head, trying to calm himself, But, still... "Get out of there!", he said. The Tangrowth pushed the Garchomp away, though it was still attatched to Leech Seed. "Yes...", he said from under his breath. "Use Giga Drain!", he commanded. Verde tried to absorb mass amounts of energy from Garfield.

The Garchomp fell to his knees due to the Giga Drain, his strength and health being sapped back into the Tangrowth. “Don’t let it Garfield!” Finion’s Pokemon rose back onto its feet, lunging towards the Tangrowth with blue energy surrounding his hands. The Garchomp swiped at Verde, it’s dragon claw still being powerful but it’s movements being more sloppy, less sharp. It’s absurd amount of strength was finally fading.

Verde laughed at Garfield's attack. "Use Power Whip, once more!", Loki said, Loki's attitude became more aggressive, he wished Permafrost could see him beat this thing! Again, Verde used a vine to whip the Garchomp, which became enveloped in a green force. I'm going to beat this thing!!!, said Loki's mind, jumping to conclusions.

Riley looked at the battle intensely. "It seems that Loki is winning," She then looked at the audience. "but everyone's rooting for Finion." She thought with a focused look. "I kinda feel bad for Loki, no one is rooting for him. It's just like what happen to me, everyone was rooting for Michael, because he lost three Pokemon from the get go. But then again, this Loki guy did kinda bully his Ampharos. So I don't really know who to root for anymore..." She frowned, clearly bewildered.

“Dodge it!” Finion’s command wasn’t listened too. Garfield was once again battered by the green whip, stumbling back with each blow but counterattacking like he had did last time. He used his claws to grab the vine once again, clearly struggling more as he wrestled it to the ground.
This time he didn’t tug Verde towards him, instead he kept the vine pressed to the ground and used flamethrower on it, intending for the flames to travel up the vine and hit Verde.

Loki was shocked at the prospect of the Garchomp not going down. He needed to worry about Verde, for now. There was no way he could get out of this one... Verde closed it's eyes, embracing the worse. "It was super effective!", the announcer announced, leading to a wave of applause for Finion. Loki felt brought down. He only had one other Pokémon after Verde... he had to do something. Verde was covered in soot, with it's vines nearly immobilized. "Verde...", he said, quietly," We can do this... Heavy Slam..." Verde started to feel pity for Loki... he had to make him proud! Verde's body turned to metal, slamming into the once mighty Garchomp.

Finion was surprised at how well Garfield had countered the power whip. Even without his commands the Garchomp could still hold his own. Still though, Finion knew Garfield would have to start listening to him soon or there would be no way that they could win.
“Alright Garfield keep your distance and- wait no!” The dragon type wasn’t listening. It had seen the flamethrower connect and was now moving to launch another move. It threw away the singed vine and charged at the a Tangrowth, raising an arm to use brick break. It realised to soon that the Tangrowth was made of metal.
As Verde threw itself into Garfield he let out an almighty roar. They were both the same size but the Tangrowth was definitely heavier. The Dragon was thrown back across the pitch, falling onto the floor fainted.

Loki cheered inside of his head, putting a smile on his face. Only one more Pokémon to go! Let's see... he's used a Fire and Fighting type, Water-type, Dragon and Ground type, an Electric and Flying type, as well as a Grass-Flying type..., he comprehended, Dark, Psychic, Ghost, Poison, and Bug are still left... He started to ponder any Pokémon under those types, then started to worry if he miscalculated. "Verde, we need to be cautious...", Loki said, directly to Verde. Verde shook the soot off of him, getting an angry face, ready for battle.

Finion was down to his last Pokemon whilst Loki still had two. His Pachirisu, Infernape, Politoed, Zoroark and Garchomp were all down leaving only his shiny Tropius left. He’d been saving Coconut as a last resort against the Tangrowth but now that he thought about it the grass/flying type would’ve been a great lead. It was impervious to leech seed and had not only the type advantage but also the power and ability to beat it. How foolish he had been.
“Alright, a Tangrowth and a Furret, I can handle that” Finion sighed to himself, returning Garfield and taking out another Pokeball. “Coconut, you got this girl” He spoke quietly and then released the shiny Tropius, the grass type spreading it’s wings and then taking to the skies. Once again she flew around the stadium to show off her vivid colours but she was ready to battle straight away.
“Alright let’s get in there with a steel wing!” Usually Finion would start off with a sunny day to help Coconut to boost her speed however knowing this would also boost his opponents move synthesis he decided against it. The shiny circled around the pitch a few more times before swooping low towards the Tangrowth, her wings solidifying into metal the moment before impact. Whether Verde was hit or managed to dodge she would fly back into the air.

Nearly everyone knew Verde couldn't take another hit. Loki, this time smiling, looked at his fainted Tangrowth. "You did well, buddy... defeated... um... some of his team...", he said, returning into it's Great Ball. "Patches, let's beat 'em!", he said, throwing out his Poke Ball. The Furret smiled at the audience, purring. Once it stopped charming everyone, he let out a command," Use Ice Beam!" The Furret froze water into a beam which it shot out at the Tropius.

Finally. The Pokemon that had taken out half his team was down. Finion smiled and called up to his Pokemon “Good job Coconut!” The shiny Tropius let out a happy call, doing a spin in the air to celebrate.
Both trainers were down to their last Pokemon now. The Pokemon had both been out before in different battles but they’d barely taken any damage. This would be a rather even match “Veer out the way!” Coconut flung her body out the way, turning in the air to dodge the ice beam. The move had surprised Finion as he wasn’t really sure what the Furret was capable of. “Leech seed bombing run!” The grass/flying type flew back over the pitch, dropping leech seeds down onto the pitch and only hopefully the Furret.

"Agility!", Loki commanded, trying to avoid the Leech Seed. Patches went extraordinarily fast, and dodged the attack. "Good...", Loki whispered," Use Focus Blast!" Patches created a ball of pure force, then threw it at the Tropius above him. It missed, then it curved back into the Tropius from the top of it.

“Dodge it!” The Tropius effortlessly glided our the way of the approaching focus blast, however both Finion and Coconut celebrated a little bit early. The fighting type move exploded against the shiny’s back, causing her to drop a little in altitude but still remain gliding through the air.
“Damn” That was darn clever on Loki’s part, time counter. “Let’s up your speed Coconut with Sunny day!” The grass type once again called for the sun, harsh light shining down into the stadium. Thanks to her ability chlorophyll she got a boost in speed, which she opted to show off for a moment. “Solar beam!” Bright green energy gathered in her mouth and then fired out at the Furret, Coconut still flying around.

"Hyper Beam!", Loki commanded. The two moves clashed, sending a wave of energy toward the seating areas. Loki covered his face to protect himself from the wave. "Ice Beam again!", Loki said. The Furret, again, charged a beam of ice heading toward the Tropius. Patches anticipated Coconut to retaliate, and stayed cautious about the sky.

Finion also lifted his arms to temporarily protect him from the wave of energy. “Dive him!” It was a risky move but Finion believed Tropius to have both the speed and skill to pull it off. The grass/flying dived bombed the Furret, heading straight towards the ice beam and then peeling away at the last moment. It span and weaved around the beam attack, getting closer and closer to the normal type until ...

The beam struck its chest. Immediately the flying Pokemon peeled away, almost crashing against the ground but instead skimming it. It regained distance again, Finion rethinking his strategy. Originally he’d planned to get in close and hit it with a steel wing however the Furret could keep it at bay with ice beam and counter solar beam with hyper beam. “Keep your distance for now” C’mon, think, think.

Loki wasn't giving him time to think. He'd barely thought up another strategy when Loki suddenly went on the offensive. "Solar beam it back!" Coconut formed the energy in its mouth quickly and then fired it back at the Furret's attack. The two beams connected and clashed against each other for a moment, even in strength. It didn't last that way for long.
Finion gasped in shock as he saw the hyper beam push against Tropius' solar beam, gaining inch by inch before completely over powering the grass type attack. The orange energy forced the green energy all the way back to Coconut's face where the hyper beam connected. It exploded against the shiny, knocking it out and causing the fainted Pokemon to fall and then tumble to the ground. It didn't tumble for long, the second Coconut's fainted body hit the ground Finion returned it. He had lost.

Riley watched the match with wide eyes. "Oh, come one! Loki won?!" She thought shocked. "Ugh, now the underdog lost?! Why couldn't that happen to me?!" She sighed frustrated and began clapping. She didn't want Loki to win, since he seemed a little distant from his Pokémon, bullying his Ampharos and making his Gigalith using Self-Destruct and all of that jazz, but she didn't actually care who won, so she was fine with it. But she had heard a voice louder than the others. She looked over in the direction of the yelling, only to find Alice fuming. She rolled her eyes and got up from her seat, quickly running to the Pokémon Center to heal her Pokémon while there wasn't any match taking place.
In about five minutes she returned, happy to see that the next match didn't start yet.

Towards the end of the battle, Wolf had shifted to the edge of his seat again. The sound of Finion's Tropius slamming on the ground caused a few seconds of silence before the audience erupted into a combination of both applause and disappointment. Amidst the noise, Wolf was clapping for the winner Loki.

"I'm not surprised. Loki had the momentum from the start. Good on him that he's kept it." He commented to Toby. That's another battle down. Soon enough it'll be me up there. I can't wait to show these people what I've got.

Loki gleamed for a second, then the audience boo -ed him so hard to the ground he shuddered. He steadily walked toward Finion with his head down. "You put up the best match than anyone every gave me... for that, I thank you...", he solemnly said to Finion, putting his right hand on his shoulder, an acknowledgement of friendship. He walked away from Finion, seeming miserable more than victorious. He returned to his seat, groaning.

He had lost ... but was he sad? Not really. It had been a good a battle, his Pokemon and himself had given their and at the very least he had provided a spectacle for the crowd. There was a small smile on his face, Finion taking a deep breath and accepting the loss.

Finion turned around to pick up Sparky, crouching and carefully scooping the Pachirisu up in his arms before standing back up. He was surprised to see Loki having crossed the pitch to talk to him. “Hey, you did really well and deserved win. Don’t let some members of the crowd bog you down my dude, there are people cheering for you” His voice was soft but encouraging, Finion hoping he had cheered Loki up just a little as he watched the other trainer walk away.

Since the battle was over Finion too walked off the pitch but he didn’t return to his seat, instead he headed over towards the Pokemon centre and stayed there. He had handed over his Pokemon to nurse Joy and they were in the process of being healed as he just sat down on one of the chairs. He was honestly a little bit nervous to head back. For some reason he had the overwhelming thought that people would find him funny, an embarrassment and whilst he knew it wasn’t true he couldn’t help but think it. Perhaps he was projecting his own thoughts out onto other people. He groaned a little, bringing a hand to run down his face. Was it even worth returning to the stadium? The tournament was probably televised- oh Arceus he had been televised.

Michael was really enjoying watching that intense battle and after Finion's Tropius fainted he got up from his seat and started clapping. This fight was far more enjoyable than his and Riley's.
'So my next opponent is this dude Loki, huh? He has pretty good Pokemon, but I think I have something for all of them' Michael thought

Riley started to get bored so she started looking through her bag. In there were a lot of random things, such as gum and sunglasses, but there also were all of her PokéBalls. No, there were only five! When Riley noticed that, her mind started racing. "Oh no... Where is one of my PokéBall?!" She thought in distress. "I must've forgotten it at the Pokémon Center!" She quickly got up from her seat and left the stadium, repeatedly saying "Oh gosh... Oh gosh..." In a few minutes she reached the Pokémon Center and got her PokéBall from Nurse Joy who had kept it safe. She sighed with relief and put it back in her bag where it belongs. She was about to exit when she noticed Finion sitting in a chair and looking pretty worried. She sat next to him and asked "Heya, are you sad that you lost?"

The Pokemon centre was pretty quiet. Practically everyone was at the stadium waiting for the second match so when someone actually came into the building it surprised Finion a little. He turned briefly to look at them, immediately recognizing them as the person from the first match, the one who had lost and the one who had stated that he had a baby face just before he went on. Finion turned away, touching his cheeks as his mind temporarily stopped worrying about his loss and instead started thinking about his complexion. A baby face? He supposed it was true?

Riley's presence and question was quite abrupt to Finion who was once again loosing himself in thought. He blinked back into reality and turned to look at her, staying silent for a moment before slowly nodding. "Yeah a ... little. Didn't really get me in the moment but now that its been a few minutes and I've gotten some time alone its ... getting me down" His shoulders slouched a little as he looked away, Finion speaking again but in a less saddened but put on tone. "I shouldn't be like this though, someone had to loose and I should be glad I at least got to participate in a world tournament itself but ..." His eyes got a little teary, Finion resting his head on a hand that had been brought up to cheek. "I feel like I've disappointed a lot of people" His mom, his dad, the rest of his family, his friends, Georgia, Sam- man Sam was totally gonna roast him when he got back. "Hell I even feel like I've disappointed my Pokemon" Not only the team he had with him but the rest of his Pokemon at home, the ones which he knew were watching. Sparky was probably gonna be annoyed when he woke up.

A hand was lifted to rub his teary eyes, Finion smiling and then shaking his head. "I- Sorry I shouldn't be unloading emotionally onto you it's a rude sorry" Finion hadn't even asked how she was though knowing him he would probably manage to word it into a rude way. He needed to follow the advice he'd given to Shiori before the tournament.

Riley's face turned into a frown as she listened to Finion's prospective of his loss. She sighed as he finished and said in a sympathetic tone "Hey, don't worry about that. You didn't disappoint anyone. If people aren't proud of you for coming this far, then screw them. Getting to participate in a world tournament that only 16 trainers were invited is a HUGE accomplishment. And you're Pokémon would never be disappointed in you for giving your all! I bet they're proud of their trainer." She gave him a warm smile and continued "And don't worry about being rude, I'm pretty used to it." She chuckled and waited for his response, hoping that she cheered him up. "Wait, he seems a little familiar..." She thought as she took another look at him. "Of course he seems familiar, since he just fought in the second match! Wait, no... That's not it... Hm... Aha! He's that weird Magikarp man's friend! Ugh, I hope Finion doesn't start talking about him!"

He took Riley's words to consideration. Its what he had been telling himself to try and counter his negative thoughts but hearing it from someone else, from a complete stranger who had only watched him was rather reassuring. His doubts were still there but at least he was fighting against them more effectively now. Finion mustered a smile, a proper genuine smile as he nodded to Riley. "Thanks" The situation was a little funny now that he thought about it. Two losers sitting in a Pokemon centre making each other feel better. Finion didn't think Riley too much of a loser. She had demonstrated brilliant battle prowess and confidence in her match as well as some amazing strategies.

"You're very kind" It was a tiny compliment but Finion felt like he had to say something other than thanks. Riley had probably went through the same experience but here she was helping him instead of helping herself. "And pretty strong if I may say so myself"

With the final blow in Loki and Finion's battle, Shiori watched in slight disappointment as his friend lost. Still, the battle had been intense, close, and fun to watch, and Shiori had enjoyed every second of it. Both trainers had done well in the battle, and Shiori clapped for both of them. What startled him was the booing done by the crowd. What the heck were they booing at?! That was an amazing battle, and both sides had done great!

Shiori sat back down in his seat, and waited for the next match to start. Glancing back, however, Shiori noticed that Finion had not yet returned to his seat. Where was he? Shiori looked back at the arena, then at the leaderboard. He still had plenty of time before his matchup, definitely enough time to try to find his friend. The trainer got up from his seat and started to walk out of the arena. Hm... If he had just battled, then the first place that Shiori would have gone to was the Pokemon Center. So Shiori decided to look there first.

Sure enough, Shiori walked into the Pokemon Center and there was Finion, talking to another girl. She looked kinda familiar... Shiori was sure that he had met her, but was not quite sure where. Oh well, Shiori supposed it would come to him eventually.
"Hey man, how are you doing?" Shiori asked Finion, walking up to the couple.

Loki felt better after Finion's compliment, it was really the only thing that kept him from feeling miserable. He looked up at the next battle, not turning to Alice or anyone next to him in embarrassment. Oh... I'm going to go against a person named 'Michael'... he's probably going to win..., Loki dreaded. He tried to take his mind off of his victory by locking his eyes on the two trainers. Permafrost and his other Pokémon were taken from him to go to the Pokémon Centre. Is that where Finion was? He couldn't see him in the vicinity, and was slightly worried.
