Ever been surprised by something you really shouldn't have been? I was today.
Living in the south east, and not more than two-score from Brighton, I really should have known that today (Saturday, 7th) was Pride, however I do manage to bury my head in the sand unwittingly. Imagine my confusion upon entering my local train station to find hordes of people and thinking "Oh, it must just be a Saturday..." (I never travel on Saturdays, least of all in the middle of the day) and hearing mutterings about parades and costumes.
Apart from the masses of people and cheap, rainbow-coloured tack everywhere, Brighton was fun.
So, ever missed something so obvious, so well-known and so important you could only justify it by being a hermit?
