Hey guys. Since we're coming up on the Semi-Finals for the Pokecharms Winter Tournament: Baby Cup Battle, I figured I'd do a brief update for anyone who's taken an interest in the tourney along the way.

The Pokecharms Winter Tournament, first announced by Ruko on November 14th '08, saw a nice amount of interest, both from our current members and site viewers who joined specifically to participate. The rules were extensive but fair, with tons of prizes offered up by fellow Charms goers, and over 30 members showed interest in joining (a nice number for Charms' first ever organized tourney). When all was said and done, the registration period came to a close with 16 (or was it 17 originally?) registered participants.

The battles were structured in a bracket style, 6 on 6 single battles. Challengers, originally matched up at random, battle until someone wins 2 out of 3 potential matches. Since participants were able to register up to 8 Pokemon for the tourney initially, they are allowed to rotate their teams between matches as long as they stick to tourney rules. Once a winner is determined, they are given the choice of selecting one of their opponent's Pokemon to add to their own battling roster. All of this is done on the honor system, and thus far everyone has been awesome to follow it.

There's been a few complications along the way - time-zone issues, participants vanishing altogether or needing to drop out due to circumstance - but so far things have been moving quite smoothly. Sem battled LoN and won, moving on to then battle DeftFunk and win again (he's now one of our semi-finalists). Midnight won out over Jeydis, King of Lucario beat Omega1095, and Ice_Trey took down Ulises87g. D battled Jertyuiop and won, moving on to meet Silver Magpie in battle and lose (making Silver Magpie our second semi-finalist). Two more sets of matches - between Midnight and King of Lucario, and Ice_Trey and Aero - will at last determine our 4 semi-finalists.

So, that about sums everything up to this point. Good luck to the four of you with your next battles :)
