Secad's Project Poetry

Discussion in 'Creative Archive' started by Secad MS, Jun 2, 2011.

  1. Well, I'm taking a 4-H project--Creative Writing, to be exact. In this, I have to write poetry of various formats to complete the objectives. I wish to share what I have so far. It is not my best, but it is decent. I've already posted the story I wrote, but I renamed it "Even Gerbils Must Cope." I'll edit the topic likewise.

    A Poem Using Iambic Pentameter

    Time’s a-wasting while schoolwork beckons
    Get off that Facebook
    Abandon that Memebase
    That essay is due Friday.
Certainly, analyzing the prose of Edgar Allen Poe
May be as painful as ‘The Pit and the Pendulum,’
But wouldn’t an ‘F’ be worse?
Ruining your future, crushing your waking dreams, cursing you to poverty…
    Or is that too dramatic?
Just think of your future when you procrastinate.

    A Poem Using Free Verse

Time slows down when you’re waiting
    Speeds up while you’re enjoying
    An activity or show
    Time taunts you
    Teases you
As you twitch, shake, and stare as the second hand slowly passes
After numerous rotations around the circumference, it begins.
The tension dissipates instantly, and relief enters.
    Forget the clock—
    Don’t watch the time.
    Lose the tension, enjoy your—
    It’s over?
