Open Screams of The Shattered (Steven Universe RP)

Name: Helenite

Nicknames: Mt. Helen (Nicknamed such by the other Helenites she worked with, due to her towering height when compared to the usual short and stocky Helenites, making her seem like a mountain to them.)

Pronouns: She, her

Gem Cut (The shape of your gem. It must be a real gem cut, so look them up, if you don't know what they are): Octagon

Gem Location: On the back of her right hand.

Appearance: Tall and stocky, Helenite cuts a pretty towering figure. Her skin is a light green colour. Her hair shoots back out at an angle from her head in a spiked shape, like other Helenite, and is a darker, deep green in colour.
She also wears a dark green glass visor of a rectangular shape from her hair downwards that ends after her eyes and just before her nose. Her clothing consists of a one piece uniform, of the same dark green colour as her hair and visor, which doesn’t cover her feet or hands.
That uniform has a black x-like shape on it, meeting in the middle of her uniform, where the Yellow Diamond insignia is placed.

Weapon: Gloves- Helenite’s gem allows her to manifest simple dark green coloured gloves on her hands, with Octagon cut gem shaped holes in the middle, making her gem still visible. Despite not really serving much of a purpose, they’re necessary for the safety of a Helenite when doing their job or using their power in any way, due to their resistance to heat.

Powers: Volcanic Eruption - Helenite can transfer intense heat into materials or surfaces by pressing her hands against them. This is possible even through her gloves. This heat takes a decent amount of continuous contact to build up, and tends to create large amounts of steam in the process. When built high enough on a surface or object, there are two possibilities: Depending on the objects strength, size or combustibility, it may either begin to melt completely, or combust in an explosion, the excess heat erupting outwards in a burst of flame or magma. This tends to depend on how volatile the material or object is, or how long it was heated up for. Despite the durability of her own body, Helenite is not immune to the heat she generates in the slightest, making the gloves a useful tool while heating things up.

Alignment: Herself

Other: During her creation, there was an accident, resulting in her coming out much taller than a usual Helenite. Helenite was created long after her kind had essentially been damned to their new role, told by a far senior Helenite who worked with her about the good old days, and the roles they used to fulfil. She spent a lot of her time dreaming and imagining of going back to those glory days, where Helenites helped create instead of just mindlessly destroy. Helenite’s aren’t exactly known for being the sharpest tools in the shed, and Helen lived up to this expectation, when she began to question the new role assigned to Helenite’s, not truly understanding the consequences she would face. She managed to escape these consequences with the help of that older Helenite, and is now on the run, looking out only for herself and still truly not understanding her situation, or the monsters she has to evade for her own safety, not knowing the true nature of what she is fighting.

Helenite Gem Background: A type of Green obsidianite serving under Yellow Diamond, Helenites are seen as below the level of importance of a Peridot. Due to their abilities to cause intense, almost volcanic heat, they are used as Forge helpers alongside Bismuths, or for demolition and destruction of unneeded materials and structures. They are known to fuse together for the sake of efficiency, allowing them to double their heat output and double their ability to resist and store that heat. When Helenites were first created, their use was intended to be to help with forging and construction alone: But as Homeworld’s empire quickly grew ever more expansive, and unneeded structures and materials needed to be disposed of, it was discovered that Helenites were far more useful for this crude purpose, and what amounted to the entire group of gems was reassigned to this lower position.

Helenite flopped down onto her rear, letting out a deep sigh of relief as she rested herself against the stone, leaning her head against the cave’s wall. She’d been running for a while, and had gotten absolutely nowhere. This entire “expedition” had NOT been worth it. She could hear noises, distant echoes, and she really wasn’t sure if those were any of the monsters she had ran into on the way, back for revenge, not completely dead. Or maybe they were creatures she hadn’t even seen yet. That possibility concerned her more: It meant there was even more here that she wasn’t aware of. She finally stood up, not being able to discern the directions of the noises, but knowing she had to get as far away from them as possible, so she decided to make a... creative little cut through the cave system. She slowly approached the wall she had once been leaning against, pressing her palms to it, her gloves forming in her hands as she felt that oh so familiar sensation, as the walls began to heat up, steam sizzling out from the point where her fingers met the wall. Two red hot, melting holes were beginning to form in the stone wall soon enough, those craters spreading in size as the sides of the circles began to meet, the steam now beginning to show itself on the other side of the wall as the craters began to deepen into the wall. Little did she know that this wall would lead through to the inside of the cave the Peridot had stumbled upon, and by the time the wall had melted enough to pass through, she would have found herself in a situation much worse than she had been prior.

"Damn it. It's all yellow topazes," Milky Quartz sighed, as she flipped through the pages, "Still, if I found these blueprints about yellow topaz mutants here, maybe they'll have more information about different topaz mutants back there. It's a long shot, but it's all I've got to work with right now."

She closed the book, shapeshifting a pocket to stash it in. "I should go home and analyse these further."

August continued shooting at the monsters, until her L.E eventually shut down, leaving her without a weapon. " Great, now I'm gonna die! " She ran back into the cave, sitting behind a rock for protection as she tried to fix her L.E again.

It was at that moment that Helenite’s Powers finally made complete headway, two searing hot craters now united in the middle of the wall, the edges of those circles burning an orange colour, her fingers still steaming, even as they now touched nothing but the air.
She advanced forwards into the cave, cutting a rather large figure as she moved her head from side to side, attempting to locate some sort of thing nearby, hoping that her observations wouldn’t yield any results. That’s when she noticed far smaller green gem, already in that same cave, behind a rock.
Could... she have been the cause of all that noise? No, impossible. Either way, Helenite pressed her hands into the rock, leaning on it and arcing her head around the side, Helenite’s head and upper body just popping out as she looked down at what she could now identify as a Peridot.
“You the one causing all that ruckus shorty? Got some noisy clodhoppers for such a small gem-“
She then leaned back around the rock as she looked to the entrance of the cave, only now noticing the three gem mutants pursuing the other gem.
She stared blankly at them as her face gradually changed expression, from a smirk of sudden realisation and understanding, to a look of concern once she fully registered the situation she had stumbled upon.
“Ohhhhh, I get it now- ... Aw great. Guess i’m not done for today.”
She raised her hands in front of her defensively, her bare light green palms glowing an orange colour as steam began to seep from them, making a noisy hissing sound as she gritted her teeth. Not an effective form of combat, but the best warning gesture she could come up with on short notice.

Clear stashed the notebook away, sighing, deciding that she'd do one last sweep of the current area, to see if there was anything else that might be of use. One dropped notebook could lead to another, and another notebook could lead her to another mutant site, and then to Rainbow Topaz.

She headed back into the mouth of the cave, catching site of a helenite, as she chastised the strangely incompetent peridot from before. The same one harping on about being a mutant.

"Strange, didn't think any other gems lived down here," she said aloud, "Not ones of the non hideous undead beast variety, anyway."

Helenite advanced forward, one of the three gem mutants leading the pack not seeming to be intimidated in the slightest by her hands warming up. It waddled forwards, the mutant purple and blue with an oval-shaped body, seeming to have eight different feet protruding from its body at different angles, awkwardly walking on two of them, the only other feature on its body being a wide mouth with a full set of sharpened teeth.
The gem grit her teeth, her gloves forming from light around her hands as she was now ready for combat, getting into a more aggressive stance. “Alright freakshow, you want to fight. Let’s fight.” As the mutant waddled closer, she leaned forward, shoulder first barging towards it, ramming into its body as her hand made impact with its side, orange sparks forming as her glove pressed to its side, steam hissing from the mark as she drew her hand back, taking a hop backwards as the hit left a singe mark on the gems body, the mutants maw opening wide and releasing a monstrous hissing sound, the being reeling backwards, before flopping forwards on its ‘belly’, the other 6 feet-like limbs making contact with the floor, the mutant now like a flat circular spider, its gaping mouth facing the floor and no longer visible as it began to scuttle towards Helenite, exposing the cluster of assorted gem shards on what had at first been the back of it, and was now the ‘top’.
However, Helenite was distracted by the voice of the new figure at the entrance of the cave, her eyes darting over to it and away from the creature. She registered the gems words, but before she had time to properly process the information or find any sort of words, the now spider-like flat disc mutant slammed into her with its side, making impact with its gut as she slid back a little, before barging back forwards with her shoulder, smacking square on into the thing and flipping it all the way back over into its upright position.

"I see. So there are still mutants down here," Clear Quartz remarked, "Not to worry. I'll help you shatter that thing."

Clear descended into the cave, stashing her findings away, before conjuring a large, bright white orb from her hands. She let it die down a little, not wanting the impact to hurt the other gem, before locating the flat mutant's gem cluster, and throwing the orb at it. She didn't know what the gems were, but if the cluster was purple, and blue, it had to have some Amethyst in it, most likely, and possibly Lapis Lazuli.

August watched in amazement as the other two gems fought the mutants, surprised on how well they were doing. " Woah....they are really good at this.....I wish I could be that good.... " she thought to herself. " Then again, I have to rely on this stupid Limb Enhancer to do everything! That's all I'm good for anyway... " She continued to think as she watched the fight unfold.
