Pokemon Mystery Dungeon WiiWare

We've known about these 3 WiiWare games for a couple of months now, but not really known anything about them until now.

As you can guess from the 3 games' subtitles, Blazing, Stormy and Shining Adventure Squad, the games are themed towards the titular types of Pokemon - that being Fire, Water and Electric. The game you choose will decide what Pokemon you can select from - full list of starters in the full topic - as well as the areas in the game. Your save files can be used across all 3 games, meaning that to get the full experience, you'll have to shell out the 3,600 Wii Points to do so.

You can also connect your DS and use that as a controller - but it doesn't seem that there'll be any connectivity between these games and the previous DS Mystery Dungeon games.

Check out this video demonstrating the game running with the, now standard for WiiWare Pokemon games, low-def Ranch models and then head into the rest of the topic for the list of available starter Pokemon across each game:

These are the starter Pokemon available in each game. As usual, what Pokemon you 'become' will be determined by a personality quiz - but this time each game has a type theme that follows through the majority of the starters available. There are also some starter Pokemon that are simply related by a similar colour to add some type diversity.

Starter lineup sucks a bit - no Grass-type starters in there (although I can see why they're not there,) is a bad start regardless of reasoning, Pichu AND Pikachu both as starters is just pointless, and Pokemon like Teddiursa, Wynaut and Buneary are really scraping the bottom of the barrel. Wooper being playable, however, is absolutely awesome and epic.

I might get Stormy Adventure, but only if I have absolutely nothing better to do. Graphics fortunately mean little to me, so I can overlook that for the most part so long as the gameplay is good.

I'm actually having a bit of trouble understanding why the Grass-type starters aren't included, aside from Pikachu being the cashcow of Pokemon (thus needing an inclusion somewhere XP). I'd rather have seen Grass-types included than Water-types personally... XD

If I buy any of these, it'll probably be Blazing Adventure Squad for having the majority of my faves (Charmander, Chimchar, and Growlithe). Riolu being in Stormy is awesome, but I actually found it rather lacking in PMD Explorers of Time - and I'm assuming you won't be able to fully evolve your starters until beating the main story yet again.

Interesting concepts, though. I can only hope their plots have the same depth of the previous PMD games.

*Mutters something about Nintendo being gits and leaving out an AWESOME electric type just because he's not the right colour*

THAT'S DISCRIMINATION!

Anyway... I probably won't end up playing any of these regardless, due to my limited access to a Wii, but either way I find a few of the starters to be both strange and pointless choices. Leaving out Grass-types just seems a bit meh, although like Linkachu said, Pikachu needs to be there somewhere

I'm probably alone, but the Ranch models have actually grown on me with this and Melee Scramble. Certainly in this case, they make a lot more sense than attempting to shrink down the models from PBR and reworking the animations...

If I would get one it would be stormy squad. It has riolu and wynaut in it, so wynaut choose them? ^^ I would really like to get this, since I have explorers of time.

Yeah, grass Pokemon are one of my favorite types, and I'm disappointed they left them out, but that won't stop me from getting at least one of the games. I'm a huge fan of the awesome storylines of the MD games, and I really hope these are just as epic! The graphics are a little too cute for me, but in a way it gives these games a bit of style that I haven't saw yet with any other game, so I'm overlooking that. I'm not a big graphics person anyway...

So yeah, can't wait for them to come out!

I'm figuring that I'll probably go for Shining simply because I want to run around as a Luxray. The only thing I'm scared of is lack of real type diversity and how that will affect game play.
