Private/Closed Pokemon: Lasting Bonds

Looking up at the holes of the Carbink land, he realised that the 'holes of light' weren't sunlight. They were crystals, shining down. In fact, they could have been hatching Carbinks. The four must be very deeply underground. Rockruff had come pounding back, wearing a crown of crystals, just like a flower crown. But, from a distance, something larger was shaking. It seemed none of the Carbinks noticed, until a massive Pokemon came erupting out of the ground.

The Pokemon was a massive chain of rocks, like a worm, and there was a rock on the front, which was like a head, and had a sharp blade on top, with goofy eyes, which didn't detract from its terrifying appearance. Peter screamed. "ONIX!". Multiple Carbinks tried to stop the attack from the terrifying Pokemon, but to no use, as they were smashed away. Rockruff hid behind Peter's leg, whilst Dewpider, who just woke up from a nap on Peter's head leapt forth.

"Dewpider? You... sure? OK! Bubble!". The bubble, being very effective against Onix, dented into it, slightly. Dewpider continued to follow the command of Bubble, before Onix's short, thin tail slammed down on Dewpider, slamming it down. Before any more harm could be done to the poor Pokemon, he returned it, and because of the red beam between Peter's hand and the Dewpider, Onix looked at Peter. He stopped in fear, looking at the Onix. Rockruff was too scared to go up against it, and Sandygast was in it's Pokeball. Peter's jaw slightly dropped.

Stepping in front of Peter, Crystal slowly reached into her bag, lifting out the dive ball, without Onix seeing, she speedily threw it, "Go, Magikarp!" She sighed, having to use the poor Magikarp against a massive Onix, but it was weak to water, so it was a close choice of Pokemon. "Use Tackle!" It made a hit, not really doing much.. "Use Flail!" It made another hit, doing more damage this time, also disobediently splashing around, of course, doing absolutely no damage towards anything. Crystal laughed at the Magikarp, such a personality was showing already. "Magikarp, nice try!" She said, returning it back. "Time for the real thing to begin!" The young trainer said, sending Litten in with Fire Fang, Lick and other strong moves. The Onix was damaged, almost fainting. Crystal looked back to Peter, "Sorry.. I, uh.. got carried away, but it's still alive.. soo.."

She stepped back again, knowing Peter would probably want to do something himself here. "Litten, you did good buddy!" Crystal said, petting her Pokemon. She looked back at the Dive Ball inside her bag again, giggling at the thought of Magikarp. "A legendary in our hearts.. but the reality is way different, huh.." She muttered under her breath.

Catrina and her Pokemon walked through the tunnel, with Atty following close behind. When she found the Carbink Land with the Onix protecting the Carbink, she yelled for everyone to stop, her voice booming throughout the area, causing the Carbink and the Onix to look at her. She stood in front of Peter and Crystal and their Pokemon, even Angirus stood behind and let the magic happen. She walked forward until she was on the ledge. She looked back and sighed, knowing that this was going to be difficult and the Onix wouldn't want to listen to her because her comrades were fighting it. She took a deep breath and looked into the Onix's beady eyes with her rock hard ones, staring it deep into his with no words conveyed. The Onix seemed to quiet down a bit, but was a little unnerved at her staring.

Almost as if he were reminded by the pain he had to endure, he roared and slammed his tail near Catrina, who jumped on top of the tail and ran forward with surprising speed. One would assume her body type would be a bit slower, but nothing seemed to stop her as she was determined to get on Onix's head. Startled, the Onix roared and tried to shake her off, but she jumped to avoid being shaken off by the links of rock. She was up to his neck when he dug into the wall and escaped, with Catrina holding on for dear life. The rumbling of the Onix could be heard, and then nothing, when a thud could be heard behind the young trainers. It was Angirus. He seemed to not mind that Catrina was being carried away against her will and had sat down, holding to her satchel and waiting patiently for her to come back. Normally, a Tyranitar who lost his trainer would get angry and chase after the captor, but it seemed like Angirus wasn't worried about it.

It was then when rumbling could be heard again and the Onix came back, trying to shake Catrina off, who was now at the top of his head, holding on to his magnetic horn for dear life. She then tied a bit of rope she had around her waist as a "belt" and tied it to the base of the horn, and then laid down on her stomach with her legs wrapped around the horn to anchor herself and soothingly pet the forehead of the beast. Still angry, the Onix tried to shake her off of his head, but she held on with her leg strength. She sighed and decided to take out two pieces of large, heavy cloth and drape it on his eyes. The instant she did that, the Onix writhed about for a good second before going completely silent and calm. His growls sounding like purrs, he slowly rested his head on to the ground, and slowly relaxed. Sighing in relief, Catrina nuzzled the forehead of the Onix, which responded with a loud purr.

Smiling, Folipa and Angirus put their paw and claw respectively on their mouths to signify a hush and sneaked down to the ground with Atty following, where the Carbink are floating closer to the Onix cautiously now. The tired out lady on the head of the Onix smiled and told them as they got closer that they can pet the forehead of the Onix in a hushed tone. When the Onix growled loudly because he heard Catrina talk, she hushed him again and nuzzled the forehead area of the Onix, causing the Onix to stop growling and start purring. She smiled to Peter and Crystal and backed off a bit to let them pet the Onix.

As Catrina climbed onto the Onix, Crystal just stood back and watched in amazement. “Are you seeing this..” She said, looking at Peter beside her. The Onix looked angry and caused small rocks to fall, one a shining rock that Crystal held on to incase it was something special. “Go, go Catrina! Go, go Catrina!” She quietly whispered, as not to make the Onix more angry.

As Catrina got down after calming the wild Pokemon, Crystal went closer to it, after giving her a massive smile of thanks. She put her hand out, letting it look cautiously at her. Then, she hushed, putting her hand closer, until it landed on top of its head. Crystal petted the Onix as it purred at her and wiggles around happily, getting closer and closer, until its head was nuzzling against her body. “I think it likes me now?” She said quietly. Litten ran over with Eevee quietly, while Ponyta clopped on her hooves as quietly as she could. Ponyta nuzzled it back, after Crystal stepped back to let her Pokemon see. Litten climbed atop its head curiously, pawing down its horn smoothly. “Enemies make friends, huh? It doesn’t even seem to mind the Litten that almost defeated it.”

After some more petting, she stepped aside, letting Peter and Atty have a go. “Peter, you gotta try it, it’s really friendly!” Ponyta followed along with Eevee, while Litten just stayed on top, looking like it was having the time of its life as the Onix flew up and down to play with it. “Isn’t that just the cutest thing??” Crystal whispered, before trying to call Litten down without success.

When he saw Catrina's heroic attempt at the Onix, he looked in awe, and responded to Catrina with a "yeah". After Catrina and Crystal had petted the now-calm Onix, he nervously stepped back, even thought he knew it was calm. The massive size of it intimidated him, especially when he'd nearly been charged at like a bull. "No, I think I'm fine... heh..". As soon as he had said that, he couldn't resist. The Onix was looking right at him with puppy-eyes.

"Oh, all right then.". He went to pet the Onix, and when he put his hand on the it, it flung its head into the air, screaming, he flipped over the Onix's head and slid down its body. After he'd landed safely on the ground, he clutched onto his chest, panting. Dewpider had come riding down on Rockruff, and Sandygast was now, somehow, out of its Poke-Ball, at the top of the Onix. Rockruff's paws kicked right into Peter's chest and he smashed forwards, through a wall of the cave, and it has easily cracked, leaving Peter on the floor of an even shinier room, although it was much smaller.

The room had stone pillars holding the walls up, and there was a large chest in the middle. The cave rock was a dark blue, rather than the normal pale brown most of the cave was made of, and that was because of the water, which surrounded the chest's platform as if it was a small river. Peter's Pokemon had not noticed the new opening yet, they were chasing each other in a small circle, with a few Carbinks tagging along.

Crystal went running over to the smashed wall, looking at the room, mouth opened wide. She walked over to the chest, with water like a small river around it, "We could get this, right? But, a Pokemon would have to smash it or something, without breaking whatever's inside, it could be fragile." She looked down at the water, reaching for Magikarp's ball. "Might as well make the most of the water!" Crystal said, letting Magikarp out and watching as he gracefully fell into the water with a small splash.

Looking back at Peter and everyone else, she shrugged, not really knowing what to do at this point on her own. While she waited for her friends and their Pokemon to come, she called over her own. They came bounding towards her, and Ponyta got up on her hind legs, making a lot of noise. "What is it..?" Crystal said, trying to shush her with the Onix near, who'd by now got curious with all the noise and had come over near the hole in the wall. Ponyta settled down and stepped back before quickly running up to the water and making a big jump over to the chest. The Pokemon smashed her two front legs on the chest, then got up on top of it, jumping wildly top break it. "I'm not sure that's going to-" Before she could finish her sentence, one of the wooden planks on the chest broke open, and Ponyta squished her head inside, grabbing onto the contents, and lifting them out. Crystal stared, mouth open wide.

Ponyta had lifted out 4 weird looking old machines with 'EXP' printed on them. She took a running jump over to Ponyta and dusted the machines off, they were quite small, the size to fit in a bag. The trainer dusted them off with her hands, uncovering more lettering that said 'SHARE'. "EXP.. Share? Aren't these used for Pokemon?" She asked, looking at her friends behind her. Looking inside the chest a second time, she saw a sentence inside of the lid saying 'Old EXP Share storage for Carbinks, keep safe.'. Crystal put the lid back down, finding nothing else inside and took all the machines in her arms and jumped back over the small river with Ponyta. She handed one out each to Atty, Catrina, Peter and kept one herself.

Now he was up, and had a strange machine held in his hands, he looked, confused at the EXP Share. "What.. are these? They're big enough to clip onto my be-OOOOOH!". As soon as he had placed it on his belt, his body glowed yellow for a second. "Uh, these are weird... I haven't ever heard of an EXP Share. Give me a second...". Peter grabbed his phone out of his pocket, and searched up 'EXP Share'. "Nothing came up... are these, like, special or something? Maybe super secret from a king on this island? IS THIS THE SPECIAL ITEM OF LECOL? You know, the one all these terrible wars have happened for and no-body knew what they are? But... what even are they?".

Peter took the EXP Share off, and looked at it. What they were went past his mind, but they must have been special to be hidden. As he looked into the chest, and looked up, he could see a tunnel in the dark. "Maybe we made the wrong entrance..... I think that-". He pointed to the tunnel "-that's the proper entrance. Probably guarded by something, I don't really wanna go down there, it could be dangerous. It managed to either kill or be hidden from attackers of Lecol... wait. What do we do with these if people might see them?"

Crystal thought for a moment, placing the EXP Share into her bag, "It could be the treasure of Lecol.. it seems special, like they're really old, nothing like modern tech today." She went over to the tunnel, looking down into the darkness, "Just hide them.. or show them, people don't even know what the treasure is, so there's a good chance that they won't even care!" The young trainer had called over her Litten, telling it to make a fireball down the tunnel to reveal some light on the situation. Just rocks and more darkness showed, but no Pokemon to be seen- yet.

A few minutes after having the EXP Share in her bag, her whole body glowed yellow, just like Peter's did, as well as all her Pokemon. Flabebe flew out, pretended to be fighting, and looked like it had won its pretend fight. "Wha-" It started bobbing up and down, then going on top of Crystal and all her Pokemon's heads, like it was trying to tell Crystal something. "Does it mean that EXP gets shared throughout the whole team after a fight? I've heard of stuff like that, but never seen it, it must mean the EXP Shares! You're a clever Pokemon, aren't you!" She said, patting Flabebe's tiny head with her finger gently, before it flew back in to the bag again. "I guess that's sorted.. but not this tunnel!" Crystal said, slowly walking inside. "Ready or not, I'm curious to find out what's down here, so are you guys coming or what?" She said, confidently grinning. Litten tugged at her shoe to try and get her moving, the Pokemon was already riled up for the tunnel adventure.

Walking down the tunnel, Peter told Crystal that people would still question what the EXP Shares were. He also asked what EXP was. Watching Flabebe trying to mime sparked an idea in Flabebe. "Hey, how does Flabebe know how EXP Shares work? And still, what actually is EXP?". Before anyone could answer, Peter had noticed something ahead, and alerted the group. The tunnel expanded, and a light could be seen coming from the bottom of the wider tunnel. It was lava, with pillars of stones and spikes. It looked terrifying. However, there was some sort of switch at the other side, and a side to the sign of Crystal. It read 'A flying Pokemon cannot make it across the lava, it will drop like a weight. Gravity is a miracle'.

"I think EXP is the thing that determines when a Pokemon will evolve, or learn a new move. You don't know it, but you can guess it by the number of fights the Pokemon has been in. I've done a bit of research on how to evolve Pokemon and stuff like that so.. that's how I know, if you were wondering. About Flabebe though, I have no idea.. maybe it's been here before? Or seen them? Or maybe seeing them again just reminded it of something, these are all guesses anyway." Crystal told Peter, shrugging.

As they reached the lava pit, the pillars and the spikes, Crystal stopped in her tracks at the edge. "This rules out your flying Pokemon then.." She said, looking at Atty and Catrina. Looking to her side, where Ponyta stood, staring at the obstacle course, she came up with an idea. "Hey, Ponyta could get over! No human could jump far enough for this, but Ponyta can! It jumps really far, I've trained it to jump like this too, and if it falls, I can catch it in its Pokeball."

Calling Ponyta forward, Crystal directed her onto the first pillar, and pointed to the next, and the next, and the next. With ease, the Ponyta jumped far enough to each pillar, with a few wobbles included. At the last pillar, Ponyta was limited to a tiny jump platform, but just about managed to leap off and land on the stone ledge at the end. It walked to the switch, looking confused. Crystal gestured downwards, trying to get the Pokemon to understand. It used its head to push down the lever, with a bit of force, it worked! The pillars went down and came together to form a bridge over the other side, and the spikes went underground. The lava was covered by a layer of old glass that looked too fragile to be able to walk on anyway. She went over the other side to Ponyta and hugged her around her neck, Ponyta wrapped her head on Crystal's back happily.

Catrina was about to follow as she slid off the Onix and made sure he was okay and not going to hurt anyone, but she then heard her phone ring. She picked it up and answered it, surprised it was her mother on the line. She didn't sound too good on the other end. Catrina's intrigued face became one with shock and worry. She looked up at Angirus, and sighed heavily.

"Sorry everyone, but I'm going to have to pack up and leave and go home. Something came up and it doesn't seem good. Sorry about that. Maybe I'll return later. Goodbye," with that, Catrina jumped on the back of Angirus, who ran toward the way they came and exited the cave system. She then returned Angirus and released Ptera. She hopped on and flew off, not before looking back to see Atty had gotten an urgent call from the Professor and needed to go back to Unova. Nodding in understanding, Catrina waited for Atty to pack up everything and get a ride on Ptera.

Then, Atty and Catrina flew off into the sunset, with Catrina dropping Atty off at the Unova Region, and Catrina flying back to Mt. Moon, after a couple of stops to rest Ptera and switch out for Draco.
