This story takes place in the Sinnoh region. A boy named Jacob is finally ready to go on his very first pokemon journey. He leaves his house, saying good-bye to his family. His mother tells him he needs to go to Sandgem Town to get his pokemon. He grabs his backpack, journal, and is ready to set out on an adventure. It is dark outside and a little chilly so puts on his scarf. While he walks to sandgem he thinks about what pokemon he might get. Maybe a water type? He might get a fire type maybe. Whatever is offered he is fine with. After a few minutes of walking from littleroot to sandgem, he reaches his destination. He looks around and wonders where he can go to get a pokemon. Suddenly a girl named Dawn walks up to him and asks if he's lost. He asks where he can get a pokemon and she points to Professor Rowan's lab. He walks in, a little intimidated by how tall Rowan is and asks for a pokemon. Rowan shows him the 3 choices, Piplup, chimchar, and turtwig. He thinks about it and decides to pick the one that he thinks is the cutest. He picks piplup. and thanks professor Rowan.
