The World of Pokemon is one that needs no introduction—you being on a Pokemon-themed Role Playing thread and all—but what would it really be like to live in the world of these majestic beats? Given everything that exists in Pokemon lore—from movies to games to manga, fan games, and even more—what would a singular world encompassing all these even look like?

Well, let's find out!

Setting

The setting for this RP is the entire Pokemon world, set eight ( 8 ) years after Generation 8. The limits of the Pokemon world have never been fully explored as the addition of features such as Ultra Wormholes and Ultra Space open up the possibility of cross-dimensional travel. These cross-dimensional wormholes can be used as a means to allow non-canon regions (as long as they are well made) to play a part in, what at this point, is the wider Poke-Multiverse.

Please note that Ultra-worm holes spawn erratically and getting lost in Ultra space is far too tricky a scenario to work around without some legendary interference.

Please act responsibly and in accordance with Poke-Charms rules regarding interactions with Ultra Space and any other aspects of the World that have connections to legendary Pokemon.

World Coronation Series

With the advent of Pokemon Journeys, the world coronation series has become a huge thing. I plan to keep that system in play, but with a few modifications to account for, what I see, as numbers that were too small.

Master Class (Top Trainers) Rank 1 - 8
The Master Class is in a state of constant flux, between all the Champions, Frontier Brains, supposedly legendary trainers, and otherwise mentioned in Pokemon—there's simply no way that 8 people are consistently hitting this class. Champion-level trainers are all taken to be intelligent and will learn from past mistakes and they aren't shy about adding additional Pokemon to their roster—such as Cynthia's recently confirmed Kommo-o from Masters.
These trainers should be in fierce competition, constantly outsmarting and outplaying each other. Even the likes of Cynthia or Red would not be guaranteed entry into the Master Class every year, because we know there are trainers out there who can beat them.
This might not happen frequently, the likes of Red and Cynthia are legends for a reason; I'm simply pointing out there more than 8 trainers of that calibre just in the canon verse alone.
Ultra Class (Legendary/Highly Acclaimed trainers) Rank 9 - 100
This Class is where the bulk of the world's strongest trainers reside. Between the eight main regions alone, there are more than 64 gym leaders, 32 Elite 4, a handful of Frontier Brains, Champions, and ex-Champions—you get the point. Anyone in this tier should be frequently brushing shoulders with Champion-level trainers and should have extensive battle experience and strong Pokemon. Anyone in this tier is a contender for one of the best trianers in the world and could potentially see themselves in the Master's 8 if they play their cards right, and a little bit of luck aids them.
With the possible addition of fan regions or even non-main series trainers like those in Stadium or Coliseum OR the addition of Boss/Admin level trainers of evil teams who should be at this level, there are easily far more than a 100 worth of trainers.
If your Oc even touches this tier you'll need to convince me and everyone else in this RP that they're that caliber of trainer and have the experience to back it up.
Great (Extremely Notable Veteran Trainers) Rank 101 - 5,000
Premier (Veteran Trainers) 5,000 - 50k
Normal Rank (Average Trainers) 50k +

Rules

  1. All Pokecharms Global Rules should be followed.
  2. TRs & TMs will exist independently, all TRs/TMs from all generations can be utilized. They will, however, be expensive.
  3. With adequate training and writing, Pokemon can tutor each other—much like Ash's Buizel was able to learn Ice Punch

If you have a pokemon that naturally learns flamethrower, they can tutor it to another Pokemon who can learn flamethrower. This is not an easy process and should not happen quickly or in a handful of posts. If it does happen, you will promptly be notified that you are in violation of this tenet.
  4. You have complete freedom with how your OC is created as long as it is proper and reasonable.

Your Oc is not Red. Your Oc is not Cynthia. Your Oc is not related to Red or Cynthia in some attempt to justify why their newly hatched Wurple just suplexed a Steelix.
  5. Cross-Regional Travel is permitted and encouraged.
  6. Look through the lore of Pokemon, find fun places to visit and explore—there are entire lost civilizations casually mentioned in the anime and never brought up again. Show some creativity and put in some effort or research.
  7. As you might've already guessed fake/fan-made regions and Pokemon are allowed, so long as they're well created. I'd like to see maps, base stats, move pools, the whole works before I approve any fakemon/regions.
  8. There's an 8 move limit and moves can be taken from all generations.
  9. Since we're going to need to keep track of the Region, Town, and Date, please include those in the header of your post.

    e.g.

    Hoenn, Slateport - July 15th

    Keep track of continuity!
  10. There is a money system in this RP; though you won't be forced to track every coin unless you want to.
  11. Humans are not assumed to have the same durability as Ash, you will not get off scott-free if your OC takes a flamethrower to the face.

She can be quite vindictive when slighted but is generally not petty. However, Esther does have a selfish streak and how no problems prioritizing herself above others.

Esther has a bad habit of chewing on her cheeks and lips, she also has a tendency to play tongue-in-cheek when in deep thought. Starter: Pyrrha (Jangmo-o)

Name: Pyrrha
Level: 10
Species: Jangmo-o
Gender: Female
Ability: Overcoat

Pokedex Entry: #782 | Scaley Pokemon

They live in mountains where no trace of humans can be detected. Jangmo-o grow little by little as they battle one another. It will never show an enemy its back in battle. Ancient warriors liked Jangmo-o for its valiant disposition and made it one of their own. They learn to fight by smashing their head scales together. The dueling strengthens both their skills and their spirits. Its scales are actually fur that's become as hard as metal.

Description
Pyrrha's scales are paler than the average Jangmo-o and their edges follow a smoother, more sensual curve. Her turfs are rather fluffy, as she has an excess of down feathers; this is due to her ability, Overcoat. As a result, Pyrrha can be extremely soft and pleasant to the touch.

Personality
Pyrrha likes to fight; her handlers at the shelter would even say she liked to fight too much. Soon after she’d hatched, Pyrrha was already known as a brutal scrapper with strong instincts. Her hardy body and natural ferocity lent themselves to tyrannical and one-sided battles that, on occasion, went too far: as Pyrrha punished opponents who’d already been knocked unconscious. Because of this heavy-handedness, Pyrrha was kept at length during playtime. Although she was introduced to older, more capable Pokémon, Pyrrha never took to them and kept to herself.

Nature
Lonely (+ Atk || - Def)
Likes: Spicy
Dislikes: Sour

Characteristic
Likes to Thrash About.

Alright, let's do this one more time (insert Spiderman theme music)
Name: Reina Cortez
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Trainer Class: Battler and Researcher
Physical Appearance: 5'6 in height, Reina has long black hair, reaching her lower back, naturally straight and always well maintained. She has emerald green eyes, something she got from her mother and grandmother, which seems to run in the females of the family. Her white skin makes it difficult she comes from a region like Mexico, since people assume they're all brown :v She has a bright smile that could make a bitter old man feel joy for the first time. She has been training with her Pokemon for a few years, giving her a body that would allow her to be a model any day if she decided to.
Reinamxregion.png
Clothing: She usually wears a cream colored v neck sweater with a white dress shirt underneath and a black tank top under that. The collar of her white shirt is united by a tri color ribbon, Red, white and red. She has two small braids around her hair that unite at the back and are held by a white bow. The rest of the outfit is followed by black jeans, black hiking boots, a green hiking backpack and finally two silver earrings in the shape of a cross, one on each year.
Personality:
Reina is a girl who loves her country and her people. She is very proud of her roots and culture. She is a well educated girl, smart and kind. She will stand up to bullies and take on any obstacle with bravery. But she isn't perfect, she tends to be a bit stubborn and is very sensitive when it comes to touching her pride. Because of this, she would sometimes rather die than admit she is wrong.

Backstory:
Reina is from La Paz in the Mexican Region. She grew up with a middle class family, who supported her and loved her with whatever she decided to do. The young Reina tackled everything from studying to be a researcher, a contest star and finally settled on becoming a trainer at the age of 15. Her previous hobbies gave her a head start, having her starter being a Mudkip when she was 11 and capturing a Tauros that same year.

Reina traveled throughout the infamous region, catching her Hawlucha and Lotad in the process, but failing to qualify for the Mexican League twice. She was then 14 and decided to take a break, thinking battling wasn't her thing. She took a small job as an assistant to Professor Poncho until she turned 17.

During that year she visited the Kanto Region with her boss. During her trip she completed her team with a Clefairy and Dragonair thanks to the various errands she was sent on. She challenged a few gyms to test her skills once again, defeating Erika and Brock but losing to Sabrina and Blue terribly. This time was different though, instead of feeling bad, she felt inspired to become even stronger. She had a goal set in her mind and that was to become the champion of her home region.

Reina now travels to other places, searching for opportunities to grow stronger, to learn and become a champion her region will be proud of.

Name: Acer Voland

Gender: Male

Age: 16

Trainer Class: Battler

Physical Appearance: Acer is a fair-skinned Kalos native that stands at a decent height of 5’11”. Reflecting the ocean are the same aqua blue eyes that Acer shares with his mother. Although Acer has a slim body figure, participation in constant physical activities like sports allowed him to maintain his toned muscles. Topping it all off is his short, messy black hair with some strands falling just below his eye brows.

Clothing: Acer doesn’t stress too much about clothing, but being the sibling of a Pokémon Performer keeps him making sure to at least look presentable as well. For this journey, his outfit of choice is a white cotton t-shirt with three black stripes extending down from the neck to each of the short sleeves. On the left side of the shirt, where his heart would be, is also a small black pokeball symbol. Underneath is a three quarters black shirt that goes only a little past the sleeves of the first shirt, leaving most of his forearms out and visible. Below that is his black patched flap pocket cargo pants and then a pair of black high top sneakers with white soles. As for accessories, he wears a single black wrist band, made from a cotton-nylon-polester blend material, on his left wrist with the colored red-white symbol of a pokeball on it. Over his head is also a black cap with an azure blue visor to match the color of his eyes and the silhouette of the lumiose city gym in white on the front panel. Lastly, around his neck is a silver necklace. As for extra clothes, he carries a gray hoodie in case of cold weather and a flannel shirt among other things in his bag.

byZ2pOm.png

Personality: With a goal to be one of the strongest and rise up the ranks of the United League, one has to be ambitious and have the competitive drive to go along with it. Acer might seem a bit lax to some, but he is serious about his goals. Even a bit cocky or reckless at times. Though, for the most part, he is open to talking with anyone and won’t bother someone unless they get in his way. Due to never having his own Pokémon, being able to establish that first synchronization bond concerns him just a bit. Of course, he knows the most important thing is the bond between trainer and Pokémon.

Backstory:
Acer was born into a family of two criminals. 17 years ago, in the Hoenn region, his young parents at the time had been on opposing sides. His father was on Team Magma and his mother was on Team Aqua. Both of them firmly believed the ideals of their teams after going through rough childhoods of their own. Though they were at odds at first, through repeated encounters, the attraction between them began to grow. However, being on two rivaling teams meant any sort of relationship beyond fighting was essentially forbidden. Yet, this just increased their desire to be with each other more. The added risk of getting caught just seemed to make their entanglement more thrilling than it already was. Eventually, as the story went, Team Aqua and Magma would be taken down by a ten year old boy. Seeing as their time was running short and not wanting to stay on the run for any longer due to his mother becoming pregnant with his older sister, the couple made the hard decision to leave before it was too late. Many of their allies would go into hiding as well, hoping that one day they would be able to rise up once again.

The young pair fled to the region of Sinnoh and thanks to having so much more time to themselves, ended up having their second child one year later. Two years passed and they found themselves intertwined with the likes of Team Galactic. The young pair found themselves intrigued with the ideology of Cyrus. The leader of Team Galactic wanted to reshape the world without spirit using the legendary time and space Pokémon. He would wipe out this present world and create a new, perfected world. Knowing that Cyrus would have the power to make change, they sided with Team Galactic. Unfortunately, their time there wouldn’t last long as yet another ten year old boy disrupting the goals of their team, they chose to flee once again. Fortunately, their allies were understanding and the pair promised they would always remain loyal to the goal of Team Galactic, even in the shadows.

Finally, they settled in Kalos and one year later, in Lumiose City. For those first three years, his parents grew increasingly interested in the growing business of Lysander. Having gained the pleasure of meeting the businessman one day, they found themselves sharing similar beliefs. Lysander was also a man who wanted to create a perfect world in his own way. He would save the world by exterminating every human and pokemon not a part of Team Flare to keep the planet’s limited resources from running out. After pledging their loyalty, Lysander was generous enough to offer them protection from any investigation on them. Having two toddlers meant they had limits with how much they could assist so as employees, they only worked on business matters relating to Lysander’s company. Through this partnership, they were also able to make acquaintances with Malva, who was a secret member of Team Flare. Once the organization fell apart, Malva used her position as a member of the elite four to protect as many identities as she could without revealing herself and the couple was very grateful.

With Malva’s connections, they ended up coming into contact with one of her many business partners. Unlike previous organizations, this group ran a joint operation. Their legal business was very profitable, but the shady side was even more so. His parents held worked publicly in the legal side of things, but was well aware of their underhanded dealings in things like Pokémon theft. The purpose behind stealing all these Pokémon besides for reselling them was unknown. If utilized right, with the right technology, Pokémon had the potential to be harnessed as a resource capable of powering the world for generations. The only sacrifice being the Pokémon themselves. Considering each of the groups they were once allied with planned to make great sacrifices, this idea should align with the goals of those capable of making change.

However, there were two problems. It had been 8 years since there was an organization willing to push forward with their ideals. Even this business was wise enough not to push too boldly out of the shadows. Trainers and Pokémon were growing increasingly strong and the Pokémon League was a leading factor in producing the world’s most powerful trainers. In this era, strong trainers and primarily those in high ranking positions were the only ones capable of making change. They needed people to infiltrate those ranks. The next problem was those who were capable of organizing such forces were all either locked away or missing. It would be up to their loyal followers to do something. With their hands tied, this responsibility would instead be passed on to their children. Once those leaders were free of their shackles, the many remnants scattered across the regions should hopefully rise up from the ashes once more and create a new world.

Acer’s parents decided to use their children as well and started with their beautiful daughter. She started to work on becoming a Poké Idol at a young age by relying on herself and was able to transition into becoming a Performer with a solid following. Her goal was to eventually become Kalos Queen. Then she would be able to use her strong influence to get many people to align with the idea of creating a new world, or at least that’s what their parents wanted. As for Acer, they wanted him to focus on rising up the ranks of the Pokémon League. That wasn’t a concern considering it was a goal of Acer’s to become one of the world’s strongest trainers. Whether or not he would help spread their ideals was another thing.

Growing up, while his parents would constantly try to push their ideals onto their children as they grew older, Acer usually just nodded off. He doubted the stuff they said would actually happen so didn’t really take it too seriously. The boy was more interested in other things, such as the World Coronation Series. Like most, Acer kept up with the regional races with the media keeping up with the more notable competitors. In school, at work, and even on dates, you’d be hard pressed to find someone in the city who didn’t know at least something about the league. Everyone had their own favorite competitor and bets on who would make it the furthest. It will all be a build up to the regional festival conference, where the best coordinators or trainers face off to determine the regional champion in their respective areas. Then like usual, while the media would try to build it up, the regional champion would meet their crushing defeat at the hands of the elite four. It was a rarity to see someone make it as far as to face the Champion. An even greater rarity for the challenger to actually win that battle. While watching all those intense battles was exhilarating, he usually found himself feeling unsatisfied by the end. Like he had only gotten a taste of the true power wielded by some of the strongest trainers in the world. Why was it that so many trainers plateaued at Premier Rank? There had to be something that separated them from the Great ranks and above.

Acer didn’t know much until Aunt Malva, as he called her, came for a visit. He knew she was a family friend somehow, but more importantly, she was a member of the elite four in Kalos. Surely she knew something that most trainers did not. When Acer got the opportunity to question her about it, she in turn asked him if he planned to enter the World Coronation Series. Though he answered a bit hesitantly, it was still enough to please the pink-haired woman. She told him that he would find out if he entered. The only way to understand how to become a great trainer would be to become one himself. So Acer decided there that he would become the strongest. The claim only caused Malva to snicker before she gave him one last piece of advice. One of the key traits that separates the masters from the rest is not just the strength of their Pokémon, but also the strength of their bond. It went without saying that there is a limit to how much a Pokémon is willing to do if they can’t fully trust their trainer. The same could be said the other way around. Of course, without ever having his own bond with a Pokémon, Acer was a bit skeptical but gave her the benefit of the doubt.

This mindset of Malva surprisingly contrasted the ideologies of his parents. To them, pokemon were simply tools to be used by humans to change the world. There would be no need for Pokémon in the new world. A peaceful world with only humans to share resources with. However, Acer couldn’t imagine a world without Pokémon. His parents did have some solid points, but like who in their right mind would want to live in a world without Pokémon? While his parents saw the league as a way to push their ideals forward, Acer saw it as something else. A challenge. Acer wanted to be in those shoes and experience the thrill of a high stakes battle. He also wanted to gain the respect of the strongest and do what most struggled to achieve, become a trainer that could not only combat the master, but also potentially rival even the legends.

Starter: Froakie
Gender: Male
Ability: Protean

Here’s a timeline of the Pokémon World btw since it can get confusing.

FRLG/ORAS > 3y > HGSS/Platinum > 2y > BW > 2y > BW2/XY > 2y > USUM/SwSh

The events of FRLG/ORAS to SuMO/SwSh is 9 years. Then adding 8 years makes it 17 years in total.

Both accepted. Try to avoid any caves this time.

Name: Cobel Timpinia (Co-Bell Tim-pin-eea)
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Trainer Class: Battler
Physical Appearance: Just under six-feet tall, with a wide-toned muscle. An old, scarred burn mark shadows the left side of his chin and neck, as well as a trio of claw marks running horizontally across his face, having just narrowly missed his eyes. His eyes and hair are a matching, muted purple color; his eyes a mixture of nonchalant carelessness and intense inspection, while his hair is a relatively well-groomed slick back look, with a few intense, spikey shrands stretching down to border his eyes. Cobel often keeps a black beard on his face, sometimes growing it out for warmth in winter and occasionally shaving it close in warmer seasons.Generally poor of eyesight, Cobel wears a pair of thick, round, black-framed glasses on him at all times.
Clothing: Often wearing a formal, button-up shirt (sleeves rolled up, depending on season), occasionally too-loose tie, and either light raincoat or winter-y trench coat; Cobel keeps his color palette often the same – shades of green (mixture of light and dark) as well as black (also a mixture, of dark and…dark-er). Cobel has an array of brimmed hats to wear as well, though he often leaves them behind due to lack of love for head covers.
Personality: Optimistic, giving and caring, but utterly cautious and therefore distant from many. Cobel will help any and all who call upon him, but he is slow to let others in, and even slower asking for help.

Devoted in-full to the health, prosperity and happiness of his Pokemon and his neighbors, Cobel knows the cost of protracted or consecutive battles on body, mind, and the area around the battle.

Cobel holds a prejudice against more reckless, younger trainers. Part of it is jealousy of their youth, part of it is contempt for the often dangerous consequences of one’s assumed immortality - his own sins from the past included.

Carries his old baggage well. He’s moved on, but hasn’t forgotten.

Skills: Situational and personal insight. Perceptive of small details or lack thereof. Research and persuasion. Quick-draw expert.
Strengths: Mental fortitude, quick reflexes, strong bond with Pokemon, highly observant
Weaknesses: Tunnel vision, overconfidence, brash and quick to act without a plan, Pity over Profit

Relationships: Cindy Kline-Timpinia, Mother (41, deceased); Arnold Timpinia, Father (51); Shane Timpinia, Brother (14, deceased); Vamon Quint, Rival (28, Male); Grey Gant, Rival (25, Male); Miranda Dayne, Rival (29, Female); Professor Cidry Laurel, Mentor (73, Male).

Backstory:
Born in Ecruteak City, Johto, Cobel Timpinia loved to fight; his parents often had to break up fights between Cobel and multiple peers. He’d pick fights for no reason, at random, just to see what would happen. Cindy and Arnold weren’t sure what to do with their son, until the 12 year-old boy expressed an interest in Pokemon training. Concerned that the violent whirlwind of a boy would cause hurt and chaos in his wake, they initially refused.

Cobel spent an entire year without getting into a fight, just to prove that he was capable of it. Over dinner and randomly throughout the day, the hopeful trainer would spout out Pokemon facts to whoever would hear it, as loudly as he could. Still uncertain, Arnold accompanied Cobel on a trip to a Pokemon shelter; there, the boy bonded with an injured Tyrogue, so taken with the Pokemon that he refused to leave without adopting it.

His journey as a trainer began in Johto just after his 13th birthday. He was brash and reckless. Cobel battled anyone and everyone he could find, pushing him and his Tyrogue to a physical limit not long after beginning their journey - and they kept pushing it, young and not concerned with what lay ahead in the future. Together, the two started capturing Pokemon and challenging gyms. By the end of the year, he’d become one of the youngest trainers that year to accumulate 8 badges and qualify for the Indigo League.

Hitmonlee, Piloswine, Magneton, Haunter, Scyther and Seadra were his first, full Pokemon team: the surging Cobel actually won his first two battles in a clean sweep, with the trainer taking advantage of his slower acting opponents in conjunction with specific type match-ups. But in his third match, just before reaching the Top 34, Cobel suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the slightly older Miranda Dayne, a 16 year-old from Lavender Town, Kanto whose Alakazam completely dismantled Cobel’s Hitmonlee (and Haunter); frustrated with his loss, Cobel packed up his things and left the conjoined regions of Kanto and Johto.

Arriving in Hoenn four years after the cataclysmic showdown of legendaries, Cobel wasted no time capturing and training a new team to take on the gym challenge. Still brash and explosive, he’d let nothing get in his way. His training became much more restrictive and regimented; cruel in its own way. Near Mount Chimney, Cobel met a mean, young trainer by the name of Vamon Quint. Ruthless and greedy, Quint challenged Cobel to a battle; it was there that Vamon’s ace Zangoose gored Cobel with its claws, a cheap tactic Vamon resorted to when it became clear Cobel would lose.

The Ever Grande Conference was Cobel’s breakout performance as a League trainer. Hitmonlee carried Cobel through the first round; after that, Slaking and Ludicolo tore through the double battles round. All of a sudden, Cobel had made it to the Finals, and for a 15 year-old trainer in his second League appearance, he was making things look easy. And then he was matched up with Miranda Dayne again. Though bitter about his defeat in the previous year, Miranda treated Cobel like a comrade and a friend, which annoyed the violent teenager to no end.

Unlike the previous year, Cobel came out on top in their Full Battle - an epic showdown which came down to the last attack from their last Pokemon. Cobel’s Yanmega delivered an unexpected finishing blow to Miranda’s ace Alakazam. After the bout, the two shared a cup of coffee, and agreed to wait until the next League to have their tie-breaker.

In his first Top 16 finish in the Pokemon League, Cobel Timpinia came face-to-face with Vamon Quint. The match the two fought is considered, “one of the most gruesome, bloodiest matches ever fought in the Ever Grande Conference.” By the fight’s close, Cobel’s very same Yanmega who had won him the previous round had breathed its last breath. Hitmonlee was stuck in the ICU for three weeks after. And for all of that - he lost.

Fueled by intense rage and hormones, Cobel attempted to assault Vamon within the next couple days, but his plan was thwarted and he was removed from Ever Grande; the League chose leniency, due to age and circumstance, but the young Cobel received a very stern warning and a hefty fine. Separated from the recovering Hitmonlee for a little while, having buried Yanmega, Cobel went on a rampage. Every trainer he saw, he fought and beat mercilessly into the ground. He forced tears, he forced blood, he forced loss to match his loss. But nothing would.

Hitmonlee’s recovery slowed Cobel some. They returned to Johto for some time, with Cobel taking a year off to rehab his partner Pokemon. He didn’t forget, however, his promise to Miranda, nor his vendetta against Vamon. He trained his other Pokemon when he could, making sure that Hitmonlee would be exactly what he’d always been - the ace.

At seventeen years old, Cobel Timpinia returned with a vengeance in the Sinnoh region. With his classic expedience, he acquired the 8 badges, and even encountered a new rival - the young Grey Gant, a talented hopeful who always seemed to make the wrong decision at crucial moments. It was in the younger Grey that Cobel, oddly, started to show a more sympathetic side. However, he wasn’t in Sinnoh to make friends: he was out to prove that a year off had not dulled his senses, and the Lily of the Valley Conference was a tremendous comeback.

On a roll, Cobel proved to the rest of the trainers that he still had it. He made it to the Top 32 without a single Pokemon of his being knocked out, and an impressive showing from Hitmonlee in spite of the fighting type’s egregious injuries the prior year. But before his match against Grey to determine who would advance to the Top 16, Cobel received news that his mother had died of a sudden heart attack. Overcome with intense grief and a lack of direction, Cobel withdrew from the tournament, allowing Grey to continue to the Top 16 (and eventually fall in the Top 8 to Miranda Dayne).

The death of his mother seemed to slow Cobel considerably; he no longer felt the same enthusiasm about fighting as he once did. Feeling condemned by his last interaction with her (a pointless, explosive argument), he spent some time drifting through Unova and Kalos, half-heartedly attempting to win badges and capture Pokemon, but not qualifying for the Pokemon Leagues in either region over the next couple years.

Cobel’s time in Galar would prove his final attempt to capture glory in the Pokemon League; his younger brother, Shane, had recently started training back home in Johto, often writing to “big bro Cobel” about how much of an influence he’d been on the younger Timpinia brother. Reinvigorated by Shane’s confidence and faith, Cobel completed the gym challenge one, final time, qualifying for the League.

Paired up against Grey Gant in the very first round, Cobel’s first fight with an old rival lasted three attacks - a clean sweep by Cobel. In his Top 32 round, he finally won the tie-breaking battle with Miranda Dayne, who had favorable odds to win the entire tournament. To cap off the array of past rivals, Cobel conquered Vamon Quint in the Top 16 to move on to his first career, Top 8 finish. Although his run to the championship ended there, Cobel maintains that his year in Galar was his favorite.

On the return trip to Johto, Cobel was delivered more devastating news: while traveling to Cianwood, Shane’s boat was trapped in a vortex near the Whirlpool Islands, killing him, his Pokemon, and almost every person on board. The day he arrived back in Ecruteak was the day of Shane’s funeral, held with the Tin and Burned Towers looming in the background. Cobel Timpinia retired from Pokemon League contention following that.

His relationship with his father strained and to the point of complete silence, Cobel moved into his own apartment; again, he found himself without a cause again for some time. In spite of his pit of despair, Cobel became known around Ecruteak as the “good samaritan” neighbor - always doing favors for free when asked, taking out trash and clearing sidewalks in the winter; and over time, that reputation transformed into somewhat of a “problem solver”. It wasn’t until he met Pokemon Professor Cidry Laurel - whose entire collection of Rare Pokemon had been stolen, which took Cobel six months to track down and return - that the impressed, older man suggested the boy turn that into a business.

“Timpinia Investigations” opened its office (just his apartment’s living room but with a desk, chairs and filing cabinets in place of a couch and tv) soon after. Professor Laurel and Cobel became friendly, with the older man sharing wisdom and turning Cobel on to some of the more patient, thought-born sides of Pokemon training and battling - although Cobel remained as eager to jump into action as ever, he at least made the effort to think things through a little better. Cobel even donated a majority of his old Pokemon to Laurel, so the Pokemon could live a freer life on the man’s beautiful ranch.

Taking care of every issue from missing/stolen Pokemon or items to catching cheating spouses, Cobel established himself throughout Ecruteak (and even parts of Goldenrod!) as a reliable worker, tight-lipped, efficient, unbiased; Though he maintained a distance from most whenever possible, Cobel found a peace from his work - like he helped these people earn closure in a way he could never get with his mom, or Shane. In a way, he’d never felt as good as he did, even when he won his very first Indigo League match.

Recently, he’s accepted several local cases of complaints from people claiming their Pokemon were “stolen from their PC Storage systems”; when he asked who was stealing these Pokemon, each one responded, “the PC Storage company.” Feeling compelled to at least look into the whole ordeal, Cobel doesn’t quite know what he’s about to stumble onto.

WARNING, THIS IS A STAND-IN NAME, JUST TO GET THE POINT ACROSS. IN A THEORETICAL FAN-FIC, THIS COMPANY IS TEAM ROCKET REORGANIZED INTO A LEGITIMATE BUSINESS, HENCE, RKT. JUST FOR THE SAKE OF CONVENIENCE, I'M USING THE NAME RKT CORP IN PLACE OF JUST SAYING "THE BAD PEOPLE".

Anyway, my idea for the bad people is that there is one, smaller group that is easier to battle (the more classic style evil team) which focuses generally on being hoodlums - selling drugs, breaking stuff, stealing whatever, intimidating people, laying claim to "territory". But, that group will be funded/run by a legitimate, international business group named RKT CORPORATION. What makes the most sense is the group actually STARTED as the generic evil team, but took a legitimate turn at some point and it worked, due to the founder and CEO's general acumen.

RKT has recently thrown their hat into the Pokemon technological ring, adapting a much more commonly affordable, easy-to-use Pokemon Storage PC system. Over the past few years, not only have more and more regions and towns switched their systems over to RKT hardware and software, but RKT has worked toward cornering the markets that focus on breeding and selling starter Pokemon to hopeful, young trainers, as well as general PokeBall manufacturing. Of course, their criminal ring often focuses on stealing back the more valuable starter Pokemon being purchased legitimately.

Alongside monopolizing every corner of the Pokemon training market, RKT wishes to further drive up profits by programming an unfortunate glitch into their storage system: upon capture and transfer to a new box, or transfer between boxes, certain Pokemon have a minuscule chance to "disappear". Worried trainers contacting customer service are often met with hours of robo-narrated menus, hold music, and the occasional human explaining a "data error" that RKT uses to claim ignorance of any PC transactions that would result in "misplaced Pokemon".

Although RKT's political and economic influence make them a hard-to-topple foe, their inability to distance themselves from their criminal roots and growing assurance of their general immunity is what opens RKT to their downfall. What do they want? More money, more power. What will they do to get it? Anything.

Looks good, accepted!

Here's Acer's future mentor and master class trainer. I'll post my main OC in a bit
Name: Acacia Song
Age: 19
Personality: Deeply hidden insecurities and depression were routed at his core and were the driving forces behind of the majority of Acacia's actions. Most saw him as a natural genius; an effortlessly powerful trainer who draws forth the best of his pokemon seemingly on instinct, and that is exactly what he wished to portray. Yes, it's true that Acacia does have a natural tendency to form bonds with pokemon quicker than most and can often be seen conversing with his pokemon as if they were a person, but what the public never saw was the hours of work he put in when nobody is watching to perfect each and every attack his pokemon knew. The restless nights before a battle where he couldn't stop simulating every possible outcome out of fear of showing even the slightest sign of weakness. For the longest time that was his Achilles heel. No matter how he prepared, Acacia would shut down in the face of what appeared to be an insurmountable trial due to a lack of self-belief. However; as Acacia grew with Windie, his partner Arcanine, he grew to become the trainer he always wished he could be.

Unlocking the ability to use battle bond did not feel like adding a powerful new weapon to his arsenal, but rather it was similar to connecting two pieces of an unfinished puzzle, allowing the duo to reach their utmost potential. Combining Acacia's natural intelligence and ability to analyze any situation almost instantaneously with Windie's keen battle instinct and anticipation created a true force to be reckoned with. And while they were not always able to fully utilize the battle bond, as they grew and perfected the technique it seemed like a lot of Acacia's bad tendencies seemed to fade away.

Some depression will never be cured, as is the case with Acacia, but thanks to the relationships he has established with his pokemon he has learned to cope and use it as a positive motivation. Though he still finds himself plagued with self-doubt, it no longer controls him as he has learned that he can rely on his pokemon just as much as they rely on him. He will always feel a sense of incompleteness, but for the brief moments of battling where he becomes one with his pokemon he finally feels like a whole and is able to truly enjoy himself free of the negative emotions that haunt him in his default state. The sense of unfulfillment he feels when not battling has motivated him to continuously grow stronger and travel around the world in search of stronger opponents so that he can have longer and more spirited battles to momentarily quench his insatiable desire.

Appearance: While not necessarily remarkable in appearance, it is not uncommon for Acacia to draw a second glance from many people he passes by. It may be the way he carries himself as if he is someone so confident in is strength that he couldn't bother to have a care in the world, but more than likely their eyes are drawn to the 6'3 342lbs pile of fluff that is his trusty Arcanine that follows him everywhere he goes.

Acacia himself is just under six foot (though if you ask him he'll always round up) and his tanned skin hosts a reasonable amount of toned muscle. He allows his messy brown hair to hang down on his head, just long enough to cover up his bushy eyebrows that despite his attempts to pluck just won't go away, but not so long that it covers his piercing golden eyes. His face is fairly attractive, and despite its naturally circular shape, years of intensely chewing gum has allowed him to create a slightly more defined jawline. Still, the main thing that draws attention is the x shaped scar that lies below his left eye.

As far as clothing goes, Acacia likes to feel stylish and will change up his looks from day to day, though his white high top sneakers and thin gold necklace remain constant. On days where he has planned a big battle, Acacia normally wears a striped baseball jersey over a long-sleeved shirt, black sweatbands on each wrist, and black tech joggers. When battles reach their peak intensity and Acacia is ready to activate battle bond he will tie on a black headband decorated with the kanji for fire in orange.

This last piece, while portraying his main 6 is not canon to the charms universe and was artwork I had wanted for if each of his pokemon was able to use one of the game mechanic power ups.

Backstory: Acacia was born in Slateport City Hoenn the third of four children of two successful engineers. As the children of scholars, it was expected that each of the children would follow suite; however, all of them would find themselves completely infatuated with the idea of becoming pokemon trainers. Eventually their parents caved and one after another each child excelled in pokemon school, graduating with perfect marks before setting off on their own adventures, or at least that's what happened with the two eldest. See, Acacia was perhaps the most intelligent of all his siblings, but often those with great intelligence are unable to conform to set standards. Acacia amazed in the practice battles at the school, even beating students years older than him despite a type disadvantage all through strange strategies he devised, though his lack of caring for any sort of practical knowledge outside of battling led him to flunk out of his school's advanced program.

When Acacia had received the news that he was failing out from his teacher he slowly sauntered back to his home, mentally preparing himself for the scolding he was sure he would receive. However, on that same day, a flight had arrived from Kanto containing an old friend of Acacia's parents: Cinnabar's very own Blaine. The unexpected dinner guest bought Acacia a bit of time to stall his incoming punishment, and throughout the night he and Blaine became enamored with each other as they seemed to follow the same way of thinking. When Acacia could finally hold his secret no longer and confessed to his parents, Blaine burst out laughing and suggested the child come to Cinnabar with him and become his pupil.

Neither Acacia or his parent's thought twice, for the child it was a chance to learn from the first adult he felt actually understood him and for his parents it was the perfect opportunity to guiltlessly unload their problem child. A few days later Acacia found himself on a plane to the distant Kanto region.

It would turn out to be one of the best decisions of Acacia's life. Blaine was a great mentor to him, homeschooling the child in both fields of science and pokemon battling. The gym leader even gifted Acacia a premier ball containing a growlithe, telling the child that if trained properly the two had the potential for great power. Acacia ended up nicknaming the puppy Windie, and the two frequently trained together and formed quite a strong bond. When Acacia finally came of age, Blaine gifted the child a ticket to Pallet Town where he could properly begin his journey.

His journey was a story of success, training with Blaine had honed Acacia's battle skills far beyond his other beginning peers and he rapidly traveled throughout the region, swiftly collecting and training a competent team with Windie always being the ace. Cinnabar was the last gym Acacia would challenge and as such Blaine didn't hold back. The child was determined to emerge victorious against Blaine's Arcanine before evolving Windie in order to prove their strength as a duo, and after Windie learned Flare Blitz in the heat of the battle, Acacia was barely able to emerge victorious before the growlithe passed out from recoil damage. For his victory, Acacia was awarded with the Volcano Badge and a fire stone that he used to evolve Windie into an Arcanine.

With his newly evolved partner by his side, Acacia entered the Indigo Plateau Conference feeling confident about his chances. He emerged victorious in the preliminary rounds of the tournament, though his ego would suffer its first crushing blow as he was embarrassed in a 6-2 defeat in the top 16 as his lack of balanced team strength left only Windie and his Blastoise competitive with his opponent's far stronger team.

Still, Acacia's dreams of one day being the pokemon world champion persisted and he devoted himself to becoming stronger, marking the beginning of his obsessive tendencies. He would then travel to Johto, spending a year there doing the gym challenge, training a more balanced team, and overcoming some of his mental struggles until he finally felt ready to compete in the Silver Conference. It was a much better story than his Indigo Plateau Conference run. Acacia had made it to the final four, and had an advantage in his semi final match being up by two pokemon when his opponent revealed the ability to mega evolve his Houndoom. Acacia was caught extremely off guard by the immense powerup, and found himself unable to rally his team to victory and ultimately the battle resulted in Windie lying at the feet of the hellhound.

He cursed himself over his defeat and decided to return to Hoenn where he knew mega evolution was a bit more common. For another year he trained, completing the gym challenge and obsessing over strategies that could take down uber-powerful mega evolutions. However, before he had a chance to enter in the Ever Grande Conference, Acacia was approached by a Devon Corp. executive asking if he would participate in an exhibition match to promote a new line of pokeballs in exchange for a sponsorship. After he discovered that the battle would be against the son of Devon Corp's president and former champion Steven Stone, Acacia agreed as he believed it would be the perfect chance to see how he matched up against the top tier of trainers.

The match was televised and there wasn't a Hoenn native that wasn't watching. A battle between the man who was considered the strongest trainer to ever come out of Hoenn and the young native who had found great success in other regions was finally making his Hoenn debut. Unfortunately for Acacia, this would be the third and most brutal defeat he faced in a major battle. Steven was under the obligation to show off his full strength and mega evolved his metagross right away. Despite near perfect planning the champion's ace was far too much for Acacia to keep up with as the power gap was just insurmountable. The pseudo-legendary breezed through the first five of Acacia's pokemon and he quickly found himself left only with Windie.

The agony of watching his best friend being tossed around by metagross whilst refusing to give up despite being unable to land a substantial hit was too much for Acacia to bear, and finally something snapped within him. Just as metagross was about to land a finishing meteor mash, Acacia had the sudden realization that no matter how much he planned, he could not make up for the strength gap between them. The only option was to get stronger.

It seemed Windie shared the same sentiment, and the duo let out a roar in unison. Acacia couldn't understand what happened, he found himself in a cocoon of swirling white hot flames, yet it didn't burn. It felt somehow like the flames were his own. And with a sensation that was nearly impossible to explain, it was like he was simultaneously able to watch himself from the outside while still seeing everything in front of him. Then another sensation hit him, not an off-putting one but a familiar one. It was Windie. Somehow or another they had formed a connection and they were each equal parts of each other rather than two separate entities.

Spectators where in shock, all they could see was a chaotic whirlwind of flames surrounding the area where the Arcanine once stood, but for Windie and Acacia, they felt more at peace than ever before. They both knew what they had to do. The duo unleashed a flame covered tackle so fast and powerful that it sent the Metagross flying backwards and knocked it out in a single shot.

The audience erupted in applause at the amazing spectacle, but Acacia and Windie had used up all of their strength. The flames extinguished and Windie had reverted to it's normal state before both trainer and pokemon fell unconscious.

Although Acacia had lost the battle, the trending news story was the unexplained phenomena that occurred with Windie. Theories spread like wildfire, the leading thought was that it was a super powered Flare Blitz, others speculated it was a new move altogether, and there was a conspiracy amongst some spectators who claimed they could see the figure of a white Arcanine hidden beneath the flames. Nobody knew what it was for sure and everyone wanted to know, but Acacia was nowhere to be seen.

As it would turn out, the former Unova champion Alder had been in attendance and after the battle he flew Acacia back to Cinnabar where Blaine explained what had happened. When Windie was still an egg, Blaine utilized genetic editing technology and activated a gene within the growlithe that would allow it to one day become capable of battle bond. By giving it to Acacia and allowing them to grow together, it appeared his experiment had worked. It came as a huge surprise to the boy, but more than anything he was excited. He now had access to a power that could put him on par with users of mega evolution. Alder's interest was peaked as well and he volunteered to train Acacia so he would become able to fully harness the potential of battle bond.

Acacia dropped out of the public eye and was put through grueling training with Alder on a daily basis. Their journeys ranged from the wilderness of Galar to the islands of Aloha to the battle facilities of Kalos where Acacia would be put to the test against the various power ups of each region and forced to hone battle bond to overcome every obstacle. The training would prove to pay off, and after three years of hard work Acacia was able to defeat Alder in an intense pokemon battle and finally felt ready to resume his journey.

His comeback was swift and caught the attention of trainers around the globe. After a mysterious disappearance with many unanswered questions, Acacia had returned and was displaying a dramatic power jump as he defeated some of the world’s top trainers in Unova’s Pokémon World Tournaments. He continued to sharpen his battling abilities and by the end of the year was a frequent champion of the tournament.

The success wasn’t enough for him, and a feeling of incompletion continued to eat away at Acacia. He presumed it was due to unfinished business at the Indigo Plateau Conference and resolved to enter the tournament once more. Though it was hard fought, he had emerged victorious and believed it would finally silence his demons, yet still he craved more. He went on to accomplish the same at the Ever Grande Conference, bringing redemption back to his native land but the hunger for more still persisted. In an odd way, he missed the feeling of defeat that fueled the burning desire to get stronger. He wanted to be pushed until he reached his limit.

He wanted an audience amongst the strongest in the world, and enrolled in the Pokémon World Coronation Series with the goal of defeating every current and past elite four member and champion. He skyrocketed up the ranks, quickly reaching the Ultra Rank and is on the edge of breaking into the Master Class currently standing at rank 9
Pokémon: Arcanine
Name: Windie
Appearance: Upon battle bonding, Windie undergoes an appearance change to reflect his and Acacia’s shared “white-hot ambition.” His whole body turns a white color. Flames trickle from the sides of his mouth and the tufts of fur on his mane, legs, and tail grow a bit in length and turn shades or orange and red near their ends as if they were flames themselves. In reflection of his trainer, Windie’s eyes turn gold, he develops a black X shaped marking below his left eye, has a black marking around his forehead similar to Acacia’s headband, grows orange bands around its front legs similar to Acacia’s wristbands, and he grows more pronounced, bushier eyebrows.
Description: Upon activating Battle Bond, Windie gains a buff to both attacks and his speed, however his defensive stats remain the same.

Extreme speed is the move that receives a buff. Windie produces flames from his feet and tail that act like thrusters to increase the power and speed of the attack, also turning it into a fire type move.

I was thinking of an older, Maybe Frontier Brain to bring in, He'd be aged into his 40's and has brushed with the Likes of Iris (B2W2) and Palmer (Colleague, fellow Frontier Brain, mine could either be an Eighth facility or replacement for Pyramid King Brandon, as such, He would have teams varying on who would challenge him, as a lower level trainer challenges him, you would probably see Sandslash or Kingdra, if similar level Volcarona and Aggron and his Blaziken. I'm aiming for Ultra with him, and will have a Main Oc that's of normal level.

Well, throw up a backstory and character sheet, flesh out that Frontier Brain appropriately, and we'll see about it.

Skills:
  • He knows how to cook
  • can improvise strategies on the spot
  • Has a pretty vast knowledge of Pokémon that he gained through out his Pokémon journey
Backstory:
- Ken grew up in the Sinnoh region until he was 9 when his family moved to the Kanto region, it was there that he got his first Pokémon on his 10th birthday, a Squirtle. Ken then started his journey in the Kanto region and managed to collect all 8 badges in just under a year. He competed in the Kanto league and managed to make it to the top 16 before he was defeated.
-Following his adventures in Kanto, Ken moved on to the Johto region. He breezed through the region in just 6 months and entered the region's Pokemon league, managing to get as far as the semi finals this time.
-After Johto, he travelled to the Hoenn region and began his travels in the region with too much water. During his journey, he had quite a few run ins with Team Magma and Steven Stone. Ken entered the Hoenn league at the end of his journey and was able to win his first league tournament. Following his victory, Ken fought and defeated the Elite four and went to battle Steven, the champion. He was able to have a decent fight with him but was ultimately defeated by the sheer strength of the Champion's Mega Metagross. After the battle, Steven, acknowledging Ken's potential, offered to take him under his wing for a time. An offer which the man graciously accepted.
-Ken spent the following months training and following Steven around, honing his skills in battling and general pokemon knowledge everyday until he decided to move on and travel to the Sinnoh region. He bid his master farewell and went on to his next destination.
-In Sinnoh, the region he was born in, Ken set out on his Gym Challenges once again just as he's done since he started his travels back in Kanto. He eventually managed to enter the Sinnoh league after over a year and a half of journeying. Before the start of the League, there was an exhibition battle that was to be held against the current Sinnoh champion Cynthia, Ken was chosen at random to be the champion's opponent. The veteran trainer fought against Cynthia, but ended up losing horribly, only being able to knock out one of the champion's Pokémon. Following the battle, Cynthia gave a few words of encouragement to the defeated trainer, motivating him to do the very best he can during the league proper. Invigorated by the champion's words, Ken promised to win the League and challenge her to a rematch. However, the man lost during the Semi Finals, leaving that promise unfulfilled.

You'll probably want to make him older to fit the timeline. Team Aqua/Magma (ORAS) was 17 years ago and Ken would've been 4 at the time.

Alright, great! Accepted.

@kyuukestu Schrift made a mistake, his oc will be originated from Mexico, not rp in it.
Gotcha
Are we going to be travelling different regions in the RP?
Yes, you're free to as long as you have the means/money to do it, pay attention to travel times and all-around keep continuity.
So one of those three regions?
Esther will definitely be going to Galar to experience the Gym Matches there and Kalos to experience the Pokemon Performers; then, I'll be going to other regions to visit Breeders, Coordinators, Athletes, etc. So Esther will hit at least three or so regions within the first month. Maybe the first week; it depends on how finances are looking.

So her first arc will be done within the first week or month? That’s also a good way to slide in some interactions with other characters too now that I think about it.
