It has been announced that Japan will be getting a physical release of free-to-play eShop game, Pokémon Rumble World.

The game will be released on the 19th of November and as players will be paying for the title, microtranstion will be nowhere to be found. Instead the game will set you off with 3,000 Poké Diamonds (which is the upper limit of Poké Diamonds you were allowed to buy), and will give you the Diamond Digger from the start which lets you dig for extra diamonds.

It has been stated that you will not be able to transfer your save date from the digital copy of the game to the physical version, so it's clear that this move is to attract other new players to the game.

Will the physical game be for free?

No, this will be a proper retail release in Japan that people will be paying for (3700 yen). That works out to about $30 USD, so if it does release overseas it may not be a full price game but it won't be particularly cheap either.

I prefer this style of payment, freemium and microtransactions make me itchy. If they did this with Pokemon Shuffle and scrapped the heart regeneration mechanic it would improve that game a lot. Pokemon Shuffle is slowly releasing available pokemon and doing weekly/semimonthly events, though, so they might prefer the slow influx of microtransaction cash.

Theres no point of selling a physical copy when you can just get it in the eshop, but in the other hand, not everyone that ownes a 3DS has access to wifi:@
