Ask to Join Motostoke Pokémon Academy

(https://pokecharms.com/threads/motostoke-pokemon-academy-discussion.23990/ is the discussion thread.)

On August third, when Motostoke’s warm weather hadn’t yet given way to autumn, an influx of students poured out around its famed Pokémon academy. Located on the second level of the city, its red brick walls and thick windows may have made it seem like an ordinary building amongst a city of them that looked just like it, but this school was anything but. Its three stories contained the refined knowledge of all its textbooks and teachers, while the students themselves had mostly either been above-average or insanely lucky.

Sterling gripped her acceptance letter tight in her hands as she stepped out of her parents’ car, waving one last time before going off on her own. Students were filling the walkway around her—she rolled her suitcase along the pavement so she’d have a good place to sit before everything was full.

High in the sky, a Corviknight soared through the air towards the Motostoke academy, Reginald was top the large bird Pokemon's back and smiled as he enjoyed the sensation of being in the air and let the wind flow through his air. As Corviknight neared his destination, he began to hover and slowly descend to the ground, just before he landed, the flap of his wings created a gust of wind before his talons touched the pavement and Reginald slid off of him. "Thanks so much for the ride, Corviknight, you go ahead and take a good rest." Reginald said as he petted his beloved Pokemon with one hand and got a Poke ball out of his pocket with the other, as the red and white spherical capsule shot a crimson beam at the Pokemon which turned him in to the exact same color, the Pokemon let out one last squawk before he vanished in to the comfortable little capsule.

When his Pokemon was returned, he put the Poke ball in his pocket and began to slowly make his way towards the school, he carried a rucksack over his shoulder and looked around to see many other students arrive. All he knew was that this was the place where he had to absorb as much knowledge as he could if he wanted to succeed in his Pokemon journey, something he wished he could do sooner if it wasn't for his parents insisting on coming here... but then again, schools tended to be a great place to make new friends.

In the Sky headed from the direction of the Hoenn Region, were a young Silver haired boy and a similarly aged platinum blonde haired girl, both on a large blue dragon like creature, with large red wings. The boy was issuing a command to land his Pokémon near the school.

"Ari, this is the first day of senior year!" Firey told Ariana.

"I know, let's get into the building first." Ariana responded.

The two walked into the school, close together, after Firey returned his Pokémon. The two walked around as a Pokeball opened on Firey's belt, revealing a medium, white furred quadruped creature with a blue face, cutlass shaped tail, and sickle end growth on her right side. She walked alongside the two seniors as they walked around the school.

------

Gustav Berlitz ran at top speed towards the school, panting as he arrived, the young, blue haired man then took a look at the building, taking a deep breath, and walked in. He then took a walk around a large hallway filled with lockers. There were students all over the place, talking and other things that commonly happen on the first day of school.

Meanwhile, Tristan had just left the train station dragging his suitcase with his Scizor. "So I have my textbooks, phone, saxophone and everything needed for school in this convienient suitcase, right?" Tristan asked Scizor. The Pincer Pokemon nodded in approval as they entered the school. "God, I hope this school year goes well.." He said as Scizor fluttered around him, admiring the gardens. Everyone was beginning to stare at Tristan. "Wow, that kid has a Scizor..." One passerby said. "That's so impressive..." Another whispered. Suddenly, his phone rang. "Oh hello, Mom?" He said. "How is your first day of school?" his mother said. "It hasn't started yet Mom." Tristan responded as Scizor waited.

Charlotte waved goodbye to her driver as she got out of the vehicle, her Dedenne sitting on her shoulder and her Lopunny standing by her side. "Look at all the darling new students at the school" the peppy female points out, excited to meet the new students. She had her pink suitcase in one hand while a matching pink duffel bag in the other, Charlie was rather persistent on bringing all her necessities. Necessities meaning most of the beauty products in her room, so naturally she needed to bring more than one bag due to the fact she had to live in the dormitories. "Well then let's get to wherver we're supposed to go!" The hyperactive female cheers out, both her Pokemon pumped up to meet new people. Charlotte had been attending the school since her first year due to her mothers company expansion so she was rather invested into the school and enjoyed greeting and meeting new students, especially with her adorable Pokemon who could never intimidate others, and instead helped Charlie socialize with fellow students.

"So don't forget to make friends, okay?" Tristian's mom said kindly. "Okay mom, see you later.." He said before hanging up as Scizor inspecting the grass. Suddenly, a Galarian Zigzagoon bit one of Scizor's pincers, making it panic and making everyoe look in shock. "Scizor, what happened?" Tristian said, following the gaze of everyone. Scizor shook it's left hand with the Zizagoon biting it. "Oh, let me try to get that off.." Tristian walked toward it and tugged on the Zigzagoon.

Before Justin walked into the school before him, he pulled the post card his mom sent him from his pocket. He glanced at it flipping it over and the card said, "When you're a famous Gym Leader don't forget us okay! Love Mom and all of Alola!". Justin took a deep breath remembering his family back in Alola, put the card back in his pocket, and said to his partner Pokemon, "You ready for this Azumarill?" as they walked towards the school ready to see what waits for them.

Kayla's black hair whipped around her as she flew on the back of a huge red bird. He carried two suitcases in his talons, one carrying textbooks and other books, the other carrying necessities. In her bag on her back was an egg, given to her by her sister. Her sister started volunteering at the nearby daycare a few weeks before she left to Galar for school. Kayla sighed and shifted her position.

Looking down, she noticed a lack of familiar Pokemon. Especially Mareep. Instead there was a white fluff-ball sheep in its stead. The famous Wooloo. She didn't really like Wooloo wool. Mareep, in her opinion, was far better. After all, she had grown up wearing Mareep wool clothing. She honestly didn't understand the appeal of them.

She shook her head and refocused on the academy. She felt the Braviary descend towards a red brick building. Probably the school. Her assumption was proven correct by a large sign.

The Braviary dropped her two suitcases down before landing himself, Kayla sliding off his back once he done so. She held out a Pokeball. "Thank you, Washington." The huge bird gave an ear-piecing cry before being absorbed by a red light emitting from the Pokeball in Kayla's hand. Kayla pocketed Washington's Pokeball before picking up her suitcases and walking towards the school, occasionally narrowing her eyes at her classmates. Her family risked a lot getting her into the academy, she wasn't going to make everything they gave up not worth it. She couldn't afford the distractions that came with befriending other students. Her studies were her number one priority.

Ariana had taken notice of events involving a boy and his Scizor from what nearby students were saying. She took Firey's hand and walked over with him, to the boy with the Scizor. One of her pokeballs opened revealing a Dedenne, who ran over in front of the Scizor. Sharp followed along and watched her trainer and his girlfriend walk up to the boy.

"Hi, that is one powerful looking Scizor," Firey called out.

Ariana kept with Firey, and responded with, "Hi, I'm Ariana, and this is Firey, what's your name?"

Sharp walked up to her trainer, watching the interaction between her trainer and the boy with the Scizor. She eyed the Scizor as the boy spotted another boy.

"Nice to meet you too, what grade are you in?" Firey asked.

"Sweetie..."

The sound of a pokeball opening interrupted her sentence, revealing a small four-legged fish like creature.

"Mud!" The creature called out.

The creature walked up to the Scizor and gave a small wave.

"Both Seniors," Firey responded.

Firey's Absol, Sharp, walked from where she was watching and near Mudkip, who was beaming from the Attention. He then noticed a boy and his Scorbunny. The Absol took notice of the Scorbunny as Mudkip noticed as well. Mudkip noticed his trainer was not in the best of shape.

"Ari," Firey called to his girlfriend, "you okay?"

"I'm fine," she whispered, her hand held to his.

To be honest, Ariana was nervous due to it being the start of their final year together.

A battle and new friends, what a day. thought Justin. The boy raised his hand excitingly saying, "Heck yeah! Me and Azumarill are definitely down!" Azumarill agreed pumping it's tiny fist into the air getting pumped up.

"Just gotta make sure we don't become late." added Justin before going to grab one of the three Poke Balls on his belt. "Wait before we start is this a team battle or one on one? Either way I'm fired up!" Justin said waiting to hear the response from his soon to be opponent.

Charlotte had been walking around conversing with younger students before suddenly stopping when she overheard somebody request for a battle. She silently walked up to the group with a grin. "Hey hey!" She cheerfully says, "I heard somebody issuing a battle and I just couldn't help but stick around since I do worry for your darling Pokemon being injured" Charlotte informs. She personally found Pokemon battles exhilarating to watch but stressful to partake in, she preferred to stay on the sidelines. Lopunny stood by her trainer and waved at the other Pokemon who were with their trainers, Dedenne continued to sit on Charlie's shoulder happily cheering people on though the battle hadn't even started. Charlotte had already dropped her stuff off at the office and requested for them to send her belongings to her dorm so she had little to worry about except actually getting to class on time.

Standing in front of the academy was a woman wearing a white lab coat, left open to show off her black shirt, pale purple jeans, and her black trainer belt that held her six PokeBalls of varying degrees of wear and tear and of different style. Her choker-like necklace shone her charms with glossy brilliance (save for the matte sections of her amulets) and her short, multicolored wavy hair bounced as she turned her head this way and that - her eyes studying the students before her. She watched the students befriend each other, while some stayed as far away as they possibly could through all the commotion. She understood both of these actions, but found herself sympathizing with the 'avoiders' more, as her academic life had been steeped in misfortune due to her rather brattish behavior. Now, she had the chance to pass on what she had learned to these kids, even if they were life lessons.

She heard the shrill cry of a bird down the path and saw a girl return her Braviary before taking her suitcases and walking towards the academy. Huh, she held that same look in her eyes that the woman had worn for so long. It intrigued her to see fate work in such mysterious ways. As the girl got closer to the entrance of the academy, the woman spoke up, trying to stop her.

"The assembly will be happening between 8 and 8:30 this morning. Nobody should be heading to their classes, as they don't have their schedules yet, nor can they go to the dorm rooms as we haven't gotten their dorm keys ready. Sorry, but you'll have to wait out here. Luckily, the weather is great for now." She studied her expression a bit further before extending out her hand for a shake, her Z-Power Ring revealing itself a little under her lab coat. "I'm Dr. Darastrix, but you may just call me Shade. I'm assuming you are a student?"

The Corviknight taxi finally touched down in the city of Motostoke, carrying a teenage boy as its passenger. He sighed, breathing in the smoke-filled air of Galar after his time back at home in the icy Snowbelle City. He hoped he would be able to keep up with the other sophomores, especially since he was sure he barely made the cut last year.

He walked up to a group of fellow students, hoping to get to know them better. Three of them appeared to be seniors, while the other two were sophomores.

“Hello, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Brayden Alderwood.”

Cool beans we're starting to get a crowd! thought Justin with excitement getting pumped up for the battle with his new friend.

"Hey Brayden, nice to meet you. This is Azumarill and I'm Justin" greeted Justin to the student who just walked up. Justin also greeted the girl who walked up with, "Thanks it's appreciated..?" Justin waited to learn the name of the girl.

"Alrighy then, let's go!" shouted Justin as Azumarill ran into the battle zone.

"Okay bud let's start this off strong! Here goes Play Rough!" "Zumarill!" exclaimed Justin and Azumarill as the water type Pokemon unleashed the super-effective attack hoping it lands.

"Dodge it!" Tristian called out, as Jangmo-o dodged the super-effective attack, but he knew he couldn't dodge enough attacks to survive. "Hit it with Earthquake!" Tristian called out as the ground rumbled. He needed to do as much damage as he could before another Play Rough anhillated it.

"Uh oh!" said Justin and Azumarill both in their own ways as the blue Pokemon was caught off gaurd and hit by the Earthquake.

"That was a good hit! Let's show him one just as good, go for Power-Up Punch!" said Justin hoping to raise the already humungous power of his Azumarill.

"Azu!" said Azumarill as it's right fist glew with bright white energy and charged the Jangmo-o before it could get another hit off.

The fist slammed into Jangmo-o, knocking it down. It was resilient, but one more attack could K.O Jangmo-o. "Jang!" It squeaked as Tristian began to think. Hmm, what move would be good against a Water/Fairy Pokemon.. After checking his options, he found his answer. "Jangmo-o, Iron Head!" Tristian called out as the scales on Jangmo-o's head began to glow as it ran at Azumarill.

"That was awesome Zu!" Justin said as he complimented his Pokemon. Before either could react though, Tristian's Jangmo-o surprised them with a powerful Iron Head to Azumarill's gut.

"Azu!" said Azumarill as it got knocked away. Thanks to it's good defense and it's water typing, Azumarill was able to withstand the steel type attack from the psuedo Pokemon. "Oh no! Azumarill got hit hard..Zu was barely able to withstand the attack. Gotta make this one count, or else we'll lose for sure." Justin thought as he strategized his next move against the dragon type Pokemon.

"Okay Azumarill let's finish this, use Play Rough!" said Justin as Azumarill began charging Jangmo-o going for the finishing blow.

Jangmo-o tried to leap away, but the Azumarill landed Play Rough, decimating it. "Jang..." It squeaked as it flopped onto the ground. Tristian knew this was going to happen. He needed that Azumarill down, before it swept his team. After pondering his situation he made his move. "Go Lileep!" He said as he released the Sea Lily Pokemon. "Lileep!" It said. "Use Sludge Bomb!" He said as Lileep shot a ball of muck at Azumarill. Tristian knew that Azumarill might have Sap Sipper, so he wanted to stay away from grass attacks for now.

"Good job Azumarill!" exclaimed Justin at the sight of his Pokemon's overwhelming victory. Whenever Tristain sent out Lileep though both were shocked, not only by the sight of the fossil Pokemon, but also because neither noticed it was a team battle. Before Azumarill could react the water type was hit by the opponent's Slidge Bomb and defeated.

"It's okay Azumarill! You did your best." said Justin as he returned his partner to it's pokeball to rest. Justin grabbed his second pokeball and threw it.

"Go Riolu!" said the young boy ready to have another super effective advantage.

"Alright Riolu, time to try out our new strategy!" said Justin as Riolu agreed saying simply, "Ri." The fighting type Pokemon got surrounded with dim white enery as it used Quick Attack to get close to Lileep fast and then conjured the white energy to it's left fist to use a super-effective Drain Punch.

Lileep was speedy and barely dodged the Drain Punch. Now that Azumarill was out of the way, Lileep could fire grass attacks. "Use Energy Ball!" Tristian called out as the slick Lileep slid back and fired a glowing green ball out of it's head. It lined up with the sun before accelerating downward. Tristian was confident in this attack.
