Ask to Join Kanto Journeys: The Unbeaten Path

The Kanto Region, a wonderous region, filled with strong trainers and powerful Pokemon, is where we lay our scene. Legends have arisen from this region, Red, Blue, and many others. But now we begin a different story. Of new trainers beginning their journey from the town of Pallet. A small town, north of Cinnabar and home to Professor Oak's famous research lab. However, at the moment, the professor, who's name seemed to be world renoun at this point, was currently studying different Pokemon in the Alola region, and researching the different bonds trainers there, had with their Pokemon.

But before we begin out journey, across the region, in Vermillion City, three men, wearing black uniforms met up behind a building, trying to avoid being in the early morning light.

"How many badges did you steal from Lt. Surge?" The taller man asked, glancing around nervously.

A short and stocky man, with a thick mustache, opened a sack and said, "Three badges, like you requested, with a few Pokemon, from some ignorant trainers."

The taller man nodded, signifying his authority over the two men, and took the bag in a swift motion from the mustachioed man. "Okay, now our next target is Ceruluan, then Pewter. We need three badges from each gym. The boss man requires that from us. Now change into your civil clothes and we move out at noon."

The other men gave a nod, and walked off into the dawn's early rays.

Meanwhile outside Pallet town, a teenage boy, aged 16, stood placing his palms facedown, upon the guardrailing, facing the harbor of Pallet Town. His dirty blonde hair flew around his head, catching the wind as he gazed ahead. A Scyther, when multiple scars, etching across his body, stood behind his trainer, crossing his blades in a solemn silence.

As the boat inched towards the harbor, the boy reached into his jeans pocket to pull out a piece of crumpled up paper. He unfolded it and read it aloud.

"Dear Tyler,

Well it's time for you to leave. Your father's already set up, and insisting you begin your journey with him setting you off. Things will be a bit rocky, from this point forward. You'll meet new Pokemon, new friends, and see things you'll have never seen before. But it won't be a walk in the park either. You'll face tough expirences and hard challenges, that will require you to work through them instead of just muddling around. But I believe in you Tyler. At the Safari Zone, I saw a boy who was brave, caring, loyal, but loved to have fun. And now, look at you. Already beginning your journey. I'll support whatever path you choose, as long as you believe in that path, and most of all, yourself.

With this letter, I gave you a Pokemon. A battle-scarred Scyther from the Zone. You probably remenber, that it's the one that always hung around me while I worked. He insisted on going with you, so I sent him to you, along with a necklace to keep his Pokeball clipped to. He is now your loyal friend, and compadre. Together you will grow, and I hope he will guide you when things seem bleak.

But aside from all of this, I wish you luck, my nephew. You're strong, and never back down from what you believe in. Keep your head up.

Love your uncle,
Joseph Cross."

As Tyler finished reading the letter, the ship had reached the port, and had been tied off. As passengers began to exit, Tyler folded the paper back in his pocket, and turned to face his Scyther.

"Okay, Scar, let's do this," he said grinning. His heart was beginning to beat fast. He was ready to begin this new adventure.

Napping Under a tree near the harbor Kasper is awakened by the smell of smoke. The 16 year old trainer is wearing a long sleeved lavender collared Shirt with black jeans, using a black leather jacket as a pillow; he is 5'10' has black hair streaked with blue and weighs 190lbs It has only been a couple days since his father, a casino mougle in Celadon city sent him to live in pallet town with his grandfather.
That was the first time Kasper had ever seen his father looking worried, but he know better than to question his father, the man was a brick wall. He had been given a Charmander to keep him company who was also curled up with his new trainer under the tree.. the flames of its tail licking at the base of Kasper's shirt.

Suddenly feeling the heat Kasper jumps up attempting to pat the flames out as Charmander watches him quizzically cocking its little orange head to the side. Unable to pat the flames out Kasper sees but one alternative and with a running start launches himself into the bay.

Having extinguished the flames he looks up to see Charmander peering over the railing.

Ted walked out to the edge of the boat, lunchbox in hand, as he let out a sigh.

Well, one way or another I made it. Time to get started. I hope you'll be proud of me...

Ted's thoughts were interrupted as his Pichu, Emily, ran out of the boat its cape flapping in the wind.

"E-Emily! W-wait a second!" Ted called out, chasing his Pokemon. Emily eventually ran into a familar looking boy and his Scyther. Ted stopped for a moment, trying to figure out where he remembered the guy from before a light bulb went off.

"H-hey, your that guy who helped at the Safari Zone, Tyler right?" Ted asked.

Tyler turned to see a small Pichu and his trainer. The boy seemed recognizable, and when the boy addressed Tyler by his name, things in his head, just clicked.

"Oh, yeah. That's me. I helped out my uncle, while he worked. This is one of the Pokémon from the Zone, that we befriended. You're name is Ted, right?" Tyler said facing the boy.

Scar merely closed his eyes, and seemed to be meditating while standing up, while his trainer talked.

"Y-yeah. What are the odds. Least I-I start by meeting a familiar face..." Ted started to say before he noticed Emily go up to the Scyther and poke at it.

"E-Emily!" Ted said, pulling the Pichu by the cape.

"Don't bother Tyler's Pokemon! S-Sorry about that." Ted said rubbing the back of his head with a sheepish grin. Emily looked annoyed as Ted dangled her in the air.

Swimming over to the shore, Kasper began to climb out of the water, slipping on his way over the railing and falling on the ground, scorched and Soaking wet between two trainers. He peered up at a Scyther and a pichu, still rubbing the sleep out of his eyes as Charmander toddled over to the group.

Today was the day. Zeph was finally going to leave Pallet Town, the place he had lived for all sixteen years of his rather isolated life. It was a good life, one of stability, but having no change over an extended period of time takes an effect on a teenager. It had been fun, but it was time to leave.

He had layers out everything he would need on his journey the night before. Tent, cooking kit, ingredients, clothes, sleeping bag, wallet, and a few pokéballs and potions. He would have to restock every now and then, but that was a concern for later.

Now with everything packed to the brim in his satchel, he was warmly embraced his parents on the porch and was met with tears, especially from his mom, as he began his walk out of Pallet Town.

He released Jindu, one of the only perks of his life in Pallet. "Ready to go Jindu?"

"Tini!" The little serpent cried as he slid up to his trainer's shoulder in an jovial fashion. It was easy for now as the little creature weighed light enough, but hopefully in the upcoming weeks soon it would be Jindu carrying him.

Zeph stood on the first hill just on the border of Pallet and Route 1. He gazed back at the town he had never left before that moment. It was majestic, even in its own understated ways. His focus shifted on the boat that pulled into harbor. A lot of trainers started in Pallet Town on their adventure, whether due to its recent fame or convenient placement. He wondered if there was any new trainers heading from that ship on their first adventure. He hadn't really heard anything from any of the local youth about their decision to go on a journey, so it would be cool if a new trainer from one of the ferries would be willing to travel together.

A glint of red caught his eye as it ran from under a tree into the water. He sighed, he assumed it to be Kasper, once again being careless enough to light himself on fire on his Charmander's tail. Ah well, no concern of his.

So after looking back at the past he turned towards the present and the future, the hills and valleys of Route 1 and beyond. "Let's go Jindu."

"Dra-Tini!"

"B-Bone!" The small brown Pokémon let out a cry, waddling over to Eliza's room. "Cu!" Getting out of bed quickly, the girl let out a sigh. "Give me a moment, Dusty." She took a moment to change into her normal wear and grab her bag. There was a note in the Cubone's hands- it has kept following Eliza. Skimming over it quickly, Elizabeth grinned. "Grandpa and 'ma are actually letting us go out..." The Cubone tilted its head, anxious and confused. He had spent a good amount of his life in a small house in Pallet Town, he wasn't ready to leave. Eliza vanished for a moment, leaving the Cubone to wait for her return. "Okay. I'm ready- are you?" She picked up the Pokémon and let him onto her shoulders. "Let's go- I already got everything we need." running outside without even bothering to have breakfast, Eliza was excited to begin an adventure with Dusty, her Cubone. Outside, the sun shone over Pallet Town and the breeze was calm. There were others, who also seemed to be starting a journey. Route One awaits. I should start heading out soon.

An Alarm Went Off In Katniss's House.
Katniss awoke from her boisterous sleep, looking over her shoulder to see Ramune, her Vaporeon, resting calmly next to her. Katniss stopped the annoyingly rambunctious alarm clock. She leans out of bed, putting on her Fluffy Eevee shoes on as she walked downstairs to greet her mother. Ramune sensed Katniss's presence had disappeared, so he awoke and followed her down the stairs.

Scar, didn't show the slightest concern for the small Pichu, who seemed to be poking at him. He just closed his eyes to ignore it. He had dealt with curious Pokémon at the Safari Zone.

"Yeah, what the odds. Well we should probably get off this boat, considering that, if you think about it, our journey doesn't begin, until we make our first steps in the dirt," Tyler added happily.

"Morning, Mum." Katniss greeted as she sat by the table, preparing to get served breakfast. "Morning Katniss. Ready for your big day?" Katniss's mother flipped some pancakes. "Oh c'mon mom. You know I did this when I was 10, but after 6 months you begged me to come back and study at school." Katniss chuckled. Ramune leaped onto a chair, sitting calmly whilst listening to the conversation. "Vae!" Ramune ingenuously barked. Katniss turned her head to face her trusty Vaporeon. "Oh, morning Rae!" She smiled warmly.

"Yeah, sounds good to me." Ted said in agreement, setting Emily down and giving her a scolding look before moving to exit the boat, Emily moving right beside her partner.

"Alright Kelv, now use vice grip!"

The rather large Krabby, leapt into the air swinging at the flying pidgey. The saw, but fiesty bird flapped its wings ferociously knocking the crab back to the ground. As he fell, Kris yelled, "Bubble!" Kelvin rotated and landed on its feet launching a slurry of bubbles at the bird Pokemon. As they popped around its face, the bird fled.

:Good job Kelvin! Get over here!" As he hugged the crab Pokemon, he felt a little bittersweet. Kelvin was starting to outpace the Pokemon on Route 1, but he would have really liked to catch some of them. He had earned a little money battling the trainers around the route, but it was quite risky since he could easily lose half of it in one fell swoop.

The gelatin like blob, a poor excuse for a Pokémon in the views of many, made its way across and outside the laminate floor, the bright wood showing a bit of his reflection. As the creature approached the door, it shifted into a more liquid like form, as it drizzled down and outside easily. Beginning to sizzle in the heat, due to the current form he was in easily condensing. As the Pokémon began morphing back to the pink-jello with a curved smile and small eyes, its trainer called out to it. She was a girl, about 14, with long, unruly orange hair, which was long. "Proxy." she called out to her only Pokémon- the shapeshifting pink 'mon. It slid over to her immediately. "Life in Pallet is getting quite boring. I've waited for years, mom and dad aren't returning." obviously, she was implying heading out, for whatever reasons. Proxy, the Ditto, quickly followed her, as she packed her things. "Route 1 is just up ahead. Speaking of- I've never actually caught you in one of these," she clutched a sphere, red and white with a button in the center. Proxy shuffled back in fear, before being sucked in and flashing as merely a beam of light. He had no power to resist and gave in. The girl smiled and let him out. "I won't keep you in there, Proxy." as she creaked the door open, she murmured to herself and looked back up. Say goodbye to Pallet Town, Kyuira. As she walked past the other possible trainers, she approached and stepped into Route 1.

An hour had passed and the duo finished their breakfast. "Alright mom, I have to go now. I promise i'll be back by a year." Katniss said as she stood up, pushing the chair back into the table. Her mother nodded, handing Katniss her backpack. "Alright, see you next year, Katni." Her mother hugged her before handing Katniss her backpack. "Alright, I should go get changed." Katniss carried the backpack as she walked up the stairs and to her room.

Katniss was now wearing a blue and white shirt, a red belt, white shorts, her lucky red socks and white sandals. "I guess that's it." Katniss said as she put on her Pokeball hat. She walked downstairs wearing her backpack, giving her mother a warm-goodbye smile. "Goodbye, mom." Katniss said as she nodded. "Love you" She chuckled as she gave a warm smile. "I'll miss you, bye Katniss! Send me photos and call me!" Her mother exclaimed. Katniss nodded and opened the door. "Coming, Ramune?" She turned around to look at her trusty Vaporeon. Ramune quickly ran after her, giving Katniss's mother a smile. "Bye mom!" Katniss waved a goodbye as she closed the door behind her. "Alright, our journey has just begun.. Again.." She chuckled.

Grace felt like a bit of an outcast, more so than usual. She'd made her way to Pallet on her uncle's Alomomola, since she'd missed the boat. Thankfully, her uncle had been there to loan her the Pokemon. But pulling up right next to the boat as the passengers loaded off felt a little embarrassing. Grace shrugged it off, however, and looked at her partner on her shoulder. "You ready for this, Poseidon?" She asked, to which the Kabuto gave a confirming "Ka!" Grace smiled at her partner's reply, before looking back at the Alomomola. "Thanks, Alomomola! Make sure Uncle Alec knows I made it here safely!" She called, as her uncle's Pokemon turned in the water and swam back in the direction of Cinnabar. "So, a whole new adventure. A whole new way to see, right?" She sated, once again looking to her partner, who gave a nod in response. As she walked through Pallet Town, she started murmuring her favorite theme song from when she was little.

Regaining his composure after being lit on fire Kasper walked back over to the tree he had been relaxing beneath "so much for a peaceful last day in Pallet" he said to his Charmander who was busy running in circles around his feet.

After gathering his jacket he returned to his Grandfather's empty house to grab his things. A bedroll strapped to the bottom of his backpack. In the backpack he had a few days worth of snacks and Pokémon food. Five pokeballs, a potion. And a change of cloths.

Stripping out of his charred shit he picked out a new one from his closet to wear out. This one a slim fitting red button up with white buttons. Having dried off by the time he reached the house he decided not to bother getting new pants.

Slipping the backpack onto his shoulders the weight paled in comparison to the weight of uncertainty in his chest. This would be his second time leaving home in the last month, the first time was hard enough and now he had nowhere to go back to. Shaking his head he tried to clear the thoughts of uncertainty from his head as he returned Charmander to It's ball. Fixing the ball into position on his belt he stepped out the door into the cool morning air of pallet.

It didn't take long for him to reach route one, as pallet is a rather small town. Ignoring a little wooden sign placed near the entrance he began to make his way to vermilion city.

"Alright Ramune. First stop, Vermilion City. It's a good place to start off." Katniss said as she walked with Ramune. "Vapor." Ramune nodded in agreement, Katniss lifted her head and continued walking alongside Ramune.

Philipp saw boy with Charmander walking on the route one. "Hi, traveller. I guess you are walking to the Viridian city?" said Philipp friendly. "I was just looking for a company, travelling alone is boring." noticed Philipp

"Hey, your a trainer right? You have to battle me!" A call came from behind. Zeph turned to find Joey, one of the local children of Pallet. "Oh, hey Zeph! I didn't know it was you since you've never actually left Pallet! Anyhow, I challenge you to a battle!"

Children, so tiring Zeph concluded as Jindu jumped off his shoulder, prepared for battle.

"Alright! Let's go Rattata!" Joey tossed a Pokéball revealing the small rodent.

"Rattata, use tail whip!" The rodent began to run up to Jindu, hopping slightly.

"Jindu, counter with wrap, follow up with dragon breath"

The rodent leaped, swinging its tail, only to have Jindu intercept by wrapping itself around the rodent. A blue aura began to emit from the serpent's mouth, blasting into the rodent's head and sending dust into the air.

The dust cleared to reveal that the rodent was unconscious laying on its side.

"Wow, your better than I thought! I'm going to run home now to heal my Rattata, good luck on your adventure!" Joey said as he returned his Rattata and began running back to Pallet.

"Good work Jindu" He said as the serpent slid back up to his shoulder, briefly nuzzling his trainer as they continued on their way.

Katniss and Ramune edged near Vermillion City, the duo walking with a general expression. Katniss stopped to read a sign-
V E R M I L L I O N C I T Y
"Here we are." Katniss looked down at her moist partner. Ramune let out a "Vae" as they continued walking down the path.
