Here are the nicknames for a team i'm developing
Hydreigon - Draco
Charizard - Fireheart (was traded so I didn't name it)
Magnezone - Metaray
Lucario - Goku
Gliscor - Slash
Yanmega - Nitrofly
Honestly I don't name them for any particular reason, just what sounds right at the time.
The only other time i can recall naming a pokemon that i wasn't planning to use on my team was the time when i caught a sawsbuck just for the heck of it and jokingly named it 7-pointer.

I've never really been one for naming my team. I generally already like the name of the Pokemon itself, so I just keep that.

I usually name my team out of some particular theme, like wrestling, Lord of the Rings. Some of them don't really match the Pokemon themselves, but I've learned to like it:

I only nickname some Pokemon.
My Septiles name is Trik. I named another one Tree.co (it's shiny)I have 2 Tyranitars, one is Omega, and another one is Spikey.jr.
I'm getting a Braviary and I'm gonna name it 'Murica.
