GLA is an eight month a year school in the Johto region where young trainers from all regions come to learn, grow, and become gym leaders of their very own. You take classes where you learn your type's weakness, advantages, and strategies to help you take out any opponent that challenges your gym.

The academy is dorm set with 2 per dorm. Comes with areas such as a cafeteria, study hall, recreations room filled with tv, video and board games, and vending machines, an outdoor and indoor training room, a library, and of course, an arena to test your strength and skill.

The dorms are separated from the main school grounds and are split up by sex. Each dorm building comes with it's own indoor pool, study hall and main living area to socialize with others.

You didn’t actually say we couldn’t have Pokémon that weren’t exactly our types, Empoleon fits the icy theme regardless. Besides it’s not unheard of for gym leaders to have a Pokémon who fits their theme but not their typing

I'm at the assumption were already in the same region as the school, but if you wish to describe the details of you took to get to johto(plane, boat ,or across magnet train/foot if your coming from kanto) I dont see why you cant.
