With the announcement of Sword and Shield versions, the following is a reminder that - as usual - at this time, any new Pokémon and mechanics introduced in the Galar Region are not allowed in the RP forums.

Therefore, the Galar Region, its starters, legendaries, newly revealed 'mon and the Dynamaxing mechanic, among others, shall not be permitted in RPs until the official release of Sword and Shield versions on November 15th, 2019.

Pokémon Sword and Shield are out, and thus the Galar region and its Pokémon are now usable. This includes all Galar-native mon, Galarian Forms and their specific evolutions.

Dynamax and Gigantamax do not require special approval - however, as in the games, they may only be used by trainers who have a Dynamax Band and only in specific power spots in the Galar Region itself and no where else.

The Legendaries of Galar all fall into the Encounter tier - they may not be captured or bonded with, but may be encountered if absolutely necessary for a plot, with staff approval.

    Some more clarifications:

    1. Moves and Pokémon not included in the games but included in previous games are still absolutely fair game in an RP context.
    2. Dynamax/Gigantamax, as in the games, is time-limited - after using three moves, regardless if these moves actually hit or do damage, the transformation wears off and the character may not use it again within the same battle.
    3. A Dynamaxed/Gigantamaxed Pokémon cannot use a Z-move (Max Moves and G-Max moves are obviously fair game as they are part of the mechanic) or Mega Evolve, nor can you Dynamax a Pokémon that was Mega Evolved.
    4. Keep in mind when writing Dynamaxed/Gigantamaxed Pokémon that they are giant enemies with all that entails - they can take plenty of punishment and their attacks have plenty of reach being as colossal as they are - but they are still not impossible to evade for trainers and Pokémon that are skilled enough, and their weak spots are still there and possibly easier to hit if you know where they are. As with any battle - practice discretion and refrain from absurd god-moding whether you are using a Dynamaxed/Gigantamaxed Pokémon or facing off against one.

With some news concerning some new Galarian form and new Pokémon to be added to the game with the upcoming Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra expansions a slight update to this announcement is required.

Needless to say, nothing introduced by these expansions may be used in RP until the expansions are officially released - including the areas themselves. The only exception is Galarian Slowpoke which is now available in the games. as neither of its evolutions are, however, if you want to involve a Galarian Slowpoke in your plot, it will be unable to evolve until such a time its evolutions are made available. ^^

(To clarify, again, the Galarian Pokedex restrictions do not apply to the RP boards and returning Pokemon from past generations that were not available in Sword/Shield but were announced to be returning in the coming expansions continue being perfectly usable.)

So! With Isle of Armor officially dropping, any new moves, items and Gigantamax forms introduced in this DLC - as well as Galarian Slowbro - are now fair game for use.

Please note that as Kubfu/Urshifu are classified as Legendary Pokemon (for some reason), involving them in a story would require requesting permission. They are, however, tentatively in the Legendary Pokemon that may be Encountered, Bonded with or Captured tier.
