The Draft Folder: Rainy Days

Aura I seem to be in a bit of a colourful mood recently. Anyways, I decided not to properly colour this one because I feel I'm finally at the point where my lineart is getting decent enough that I can show it off with cell shading, or more simple shading, rather than just trying to hide it as much as possible. Its still not perfect - I struggle over long straight stretches like on the umbrella, but overall I'm pleased with my progress here.

@Shiny Lyni Yeah that's super useful thanks! Any information on emotional responses to my works are greatly appreciated.

@Psycho Monkey That's because I added the fish in later and couldn't be bothered to redraw her >>

Yup, definitely at the stage where you can draw something monochromatic and it still looks utterly fabulous! Like @Shiny Lyni said, the cool colors go really well with the fun relaxing atmosphere you're portraying. I love how the girl on the left seems to have no idea she's got a fish in her hair.

@Aura definitely the colors are one since I'm a huge sucker for pieces with calming, smooth gradients. The fishies and the way the people's clothes/hair are blowing in the wind also make me feel calm and happy, along with their expressions. That's all I can think of in my sleepy sick state but I hope that helps a little ^^

@Shiny Lyni Do you mind if I ask what about it makes it so pleasant to look at? Just for future reference ^^
