KNIGHT VS KNIGHT: PROLOGUES: Link, Hero of Hyrule

by Mechanist Gamma

Mechanist Gamma It has been a year since the defeat of Cia, the dark sorceress and Ganon, King of Evil. Now Link and Zelda guard Hyrule together as a dynamic duo... until a strange messenger arrives at Hyrule Castle.
The man urged his horse faster. The contest was rapidly approaching, and he couldn't let down... him. As he rode over the hill, he smiled as he saw the castle. Finally! he thought. Riding faster, he heard a bell sounding and people shouting.

Link was sparring with some of his fellow knights. Impa had bet him that he couldn't beat 500 Hyrulean troops. He did so in less than a minute. Impa face-palmed and Zelda laughed. Link looked over and laughed. A Hyrulean soldier sat up dazed, and Link extended his hand to help, which was happily accepted. Suddenly, a soldier came running over. "Princess Zelda! General Impa!" "What is it?" Impa said. The guard explained. "A man in a red cloak with yellow stripes is at the castle gates. Apparently he wants to talk to Link!"

Link entered the conference room, Zelda and Impa to his sides. They sat down in three of the eight chairs on the conference table, while the cloaked man sat on another. "Link the Hero and Princess Zelda. Such a pleasure to finally meet you." the man said. "Why are you here?" Zelda asked. "What reason did you come all this way for?" "To deliver this." the man said, taking a letter out of his cloak. Link looked at the letter. It had his name on it. Zelda took the letter. "Let's see what this says." she said, reading aloud.

Dear Link
For your exceptional prowess with a sword, you have been invited to one of the greatest sword fighting tournaments of all time, Knight VS Knight! In this tournament, you will face off against the best swordmen across the known universe. we wish you luck in your battle!

Link and Zelda looked at the each other, and then back at the letter. Impa looked at the messenger. "Even if he was to go, how could he? This letter provides no directions." "I would take him." the man said. "I came from that stadium, so I know how to get back." Zelda stared at Link. "Are you really going to do this?" she asked, Link nodding in reply. "Well, I guess there's no stopping you." she said. "Alright, gather your gear and head to the gate. I have a feeling you'll need your full arsenal for this." Link ran off, anticipating a good challenge.

When Link returned to the gate, he found all the soldiers cheering him on. As he walked to the front, Zelda stopped him. "Good luck." she said. Link nodded, and kept going. At the end was the man with his horse. "Climb on." he instructed, and he did so. Link waved goodbye as the horse rode off away from Hyrule Castle.

Entering the mountain region to the northwest of the castle, Link saw a weird sphere of blue. "That's my portal." the man said, and the horse increased speed. As Link passed into the sphere, he felt a weird tingly feeling...

Link woke up in a weird place. Was this... a suite room or something? It was all fancy stuff, a big fluffy couch, a huge bed, a bookcase that took up a wall, and a... tee-vee? And what was that connected to it? We-You? What a strange name. Then link realized there was no exit. Suddenly, the tee-vee lit up. It was like a big window, but all he could see was a guy in a chair. Suddenly the chair spun around, and the man in the chair started to speak.

"Hello there. If you are watching this broadcast, then you are one of sixteen contestants who have been chosen to come to my amazing tournament. In this tournament, you will face many others of your skill level... or higher. To make yourself comfortable, we have provided you with a state-of-the-art room, with a queen-sized bed, a glorious couch, a month's worth of books of any genre and a Wii-U with a full library of games. Once it's time for your match to begin, simply enter the sphere of light that will form in your chamber. Good luck, and god bless you all."

With that, the tee-vee shut down. Link went over to the bookshelf, pulled out a book all about sword fighting, and lay down on the bed, reading.

It was three hours later when the sphere finally appeared. Link had already gone through 16 books. Grabbing his stuff, he headed into the sphere.

Link looked around as the light faded. All around the battlefield, there were seats raised up high, people placing bets and cheering on the fighters. Link smiled... and looked in front of him. There stood his opponent.

"Fight me."
