Keeper Of The Ordinance: Keeper of The Ordinance: Part 1:The Outside Choice

by Atlas Uxie

Atlas Uxie For eighteen years, Jayden has been raised in solitude. He was never allowed to leave Singes Castle, hideout of The Ordinance, a group of human beings that strive for power. But, The Ordinance doesn't know something about Jayden that they know already...
It was officially six years ago. The man Jayden called Landon was sprawled across the great dining hall's table. Dead, with a slit in his throat and alcohol through his bloodstream. Thus slit was forced upon by Lord Vander, who saw through Landon's plan as an act of treason. Only the morning after Landon's death did Evelyn and Jayden find out. A week afterwards, the woman and child were seized, Jayden carried away to the laboratory for the weekly tests, and Evelyn brought down to her shaking knees, killed by powerful trauma forced upon her head, leaving Jayden to care for himself despite being a twelve-year-old boy.

That same memory kept replaying in Jayden's head, but it ended when the boy came to his senses with a bloodcurdling scream.

"Aaaaaaaaaaah! Landon! Evelyn! No! You shouldn't have done that, you didn't have to die in order to protect me." Jayden cried, his head stuffed in his pillow in order to hide his tears.

"Jayden! Are you alright?!" a boy asked rushing into the room.

"Yes, Zak, I'm alright. Don't worry about that shout. It's been happening for a month now." Jayden replied calmly.

"Thank Goodness! By the way, Happy eighteenth Birthday, buddy!" Zak happily remarked, "You're as old as I am now!"

"Two things. One, shut up. Two, thanks. Hey, you go to the dining hall. I still have to change, okay?" Jayden asked, and Zak left to have breakfast. Jayden then followed and entered the dining room. The food on display spanned from turkey bacon to over easy eggs. Different styles of milk and juices were dispensed by beer tappers, yet beer and alcohol were easily identified by their clear color. Picking out some bacon, toast, and a glass of regular milk, Jayden found his seat next to Zak, and they began eating. In the middle of the turkey bacon, the clock struck twelve, and Jayden knew what that meant; it was time to escape Singes Castle.

"Zak, it's time." Jayden whispered,"Throw away your food and pack!" With that, Zak and Jayden threw their food directly into the trash can and hurried off to their quarters to pack. Thirty minutes later, they met in Jayden's room, and with a mighty leap, the boys leaped out of the room's window and ran quickly away from their torture prison.

"What?! The 'Host' escaped along with his best friend?! That can't be!" Vander shouted. He chugged down what was left in his beer bottle, then rubbed his head as if he has a headache. "Get the one known as Avril. Those boys must be apprehended as quickly as possible!"
