In the Midnight Glow: In the Midnight Glow: Prologue Sorta

Neph! Neph! Come here!" A boy's voice called from outside.

Nephoria was currently squinting her eyes at a book laid out in front of her, trying to understand the words written across the page. She glanced up at her brother's call, dark, navy eyes sparkling with curiosity.

"'m comin'!" She shouted back, awkwardly stumbling onto her feet as she ran out into the rather huge backyard to see whatever it was that her brother, Chris, wanted to show her.

"Neph, look what I found!" He grinned, and motioned to a small shack nearly completely swallowed by overgrown weeds and plants.

"What's in there?" Neph asked in awe.

"That's what we're gonna find out, duh." Chris grabbed her arm, practically dragging her over to said shack. The wood was old and chipped, strangely damp in some places. It took a while to actually find the door through all the vines that had covered it, but eventually they noticed the rusted hinges. To their surprise, it swung open with ease, and they excitedly wandered inside.

It was apparent that the place was certainly larger than it had first appeared. Dusty desks lined the walls on both sides, covered in scattered papers. A shelf was nailed in at the back, filled with all sorts of strange, random things. But out of everything there one certain thing had caught their attention.

A syringe half filled with a transparent liquid, simply labelled 'Project Pokemon'. Lying just in front of it appeared to be a report, with 'SUCCESSFUL' stamped across it in a vibrant green.

"Whoa... Bro... what do you think it does?"

"I don't know, wanna try it?" Chris rolled his eyes. "Come on. this place is creepy. Besides, it's dinner soon, and for all the books I've read places like this never lead to anything good."

"But it's cool!"

"But it'll probably kill you!" He argued. "I knew I shouldn't have showed you. You're too young. And young minds are far too curious. Now, cooome on," he lifted his sister up, carrying her out despite loud protests and flailing.

They left the shack and went in, just on time it seemed as their mother called them for dinner. But for once, Nephoria ate in silence, mind still dwelling one the weird shack from before...

Later that night, when everyone had fallen asleep, Neph decided to go and see that shack again. Perhaps attempt to read a few of those papers. Now, one would think someone as young as Neph (6) wouldn't be sneaking out at night, but curiosity had always gotten the better of her.

She tiptoed through the hallway and snuck outside into the yard and over to the shack. She tried to open the door, just to find that it was locked. Why won't it open? She thought in confusion, once again attempting to open it. But just before she did, the door simply swung open in her face, and she was met with a looming figure.

Neph clasped her small hands over her mouth to muffle the short scream.

"Who the hell are you?" The man muttered, dragging her into the shack before she could get away.

"N-N-Neph," she whimpered hastily, trying to squirm out of his grip.

He paused for a moment, as if considering something, and a sick smile formed on his face. "Hey, kid... I still haven't tested to see if this experiment of mine worked on children. Wanna do me a small favor? It'll be a huge help in our studies of Pokemon."

"H-help?" Neph cocked her head, wiping her teared-up eyes. "Ooh! What can I do? I wanna be helpful!"

"Okay, just stand right there..." He reached for the syringe that she'd noticed earlier. "This might sting a little bit at first, but it should pass soon..."

The girl nodded, still enthusiastic, although the slightest bit of hesitance slipped through. She felt the needle prick her arm and she bit her lip, wincing, but she managed to hold in her tears.

At first, nothing seemed to happen. But then, there was a sudden flare of pain in her chest, and she immediately cried out in agony. The pain branched out through her body, until her limbs burned like fire and her bones felt like they had been mashed to a pulp. The last thing she saw was that man's cruel, amused grin before her world faded to black...

A/N: I can't write for the life of me, lol. So forgive me for the horrible story, but... I try. XD Also, please note that I wrote most of this at like, 2:40 in the morning. Sooo it probably sucks more than usual. .3.

"Can Estra be bothered to write more of this story? TO BE CONTINUED"
^ ^ ^ ^
That right there is hella accurate. I cannot, for the life of me, finish stories...

Before, they've been pretty terrible. But now, I've been typing all kinds of ideas, but, of course, I'm stuck in writer's block...
But I have an idea that may act as a rope out of the shadowy pit.

You may think this is terrible, but it's greatly written! I usually make crappy stories; I just focus on the main objective rather than trying to make interesting things happen, or build up love or hate on a character to geta reaction when they die. I, too, am working on my skills in writing. ^^ If you ever want any ideas, you can ask me (only if you want to).
