Today, a new trailer was released for the upcoming Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, and it reveals quite a bit more information – click through for more!

[prebreak][/prebreak]

First up, the legendaries now have been fully revealed...

solgaleo_final_rgb_300dpi.png
Solgaleo
[type]Psychic[/type] [type]Steel[/type]
Ability: Full Metal Body
Category: Sunne Pokémon
Height: 11'2"
Weight: 507.1 lbs

lunala_final_rgb_300dpi.png
Lunala
[type]Psychic[/type] [type]Ghost[/type]
Ability: Shadow Shield
Category: Moone Pokémon
Height: 13'1"
Weight: 264.6 lbs

(RETURN OF NINTENDOE ENGLISHE CONFIRMED)
Full Metal Body and Shadow Shield are brand new abilities. Full Metal Body is identical to Clear Body, and prevent other Pokémon from lowering Solgaleo's stats, whereas Shadow Shield is identical to Multiscale, and means that an attack hitting Lunala while it is at full HP will do less damage.

Solgaleo and Lunala have new moves, too: Sunsteel Strike and Moongeist Beam, respectively. They disregard the opponent's Abilities when striking, which means it ignores abilities like Mold Breaker.

We've also had confirmation that you can choose from eight different designs at the start of the game for your hero, and it seems that the ability to customise them will return from Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. We've also got concept art for the two default trainers, including the female trainer's utterly dreadful chicken hat.

Next up, Alola's regional Professor has also been named as Professor Kukui, and is basically a beach bro. He is accompanied by a mysterious girl known as Lillie, who is fond of reading, but does not like making Pokémon fight in battles. She is working with the Professor for personal reasons, and is most definitely part of the plot.

Your trainer's "friend" *coughrivalcough* is called Hau, and apparently has a massive appetite. He makes friends with you straight away when you move to Alola, and is always in search of malasada, a famous treat in the Alola region.

The Alola region has been confirmed to consist of four tropical islands. They are said to be rich in natural beauty. There's also a fifth island, which is artificial. It looks very much like there are four sections to the Pokédex again, much like how Kalos was divided.

Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon will also feature a "Rotom Pokédex," which, as the name implies, is inhabited by a talking Rotom. It also seems to offer the map functionality usually featured in a separate device too, as well as being sassy. It will function as the bottom screen for Sun and Moon. It's said to be extremely rare – only a handful of Trainers in the Alola region have one.

You can now share Pokédex entries through a new "QR Scanner." This allows you to share Pokédex entries you have collected with a friend via a QR code, allowing them to scan it and add the Pokémon contained within it to their Pokédex. It you haven't yet caught a Pokémon, scanning it will let you discover its habitat so you can search it out!

Lastly, we're pleased to confirm that Pokémon Sun and Moon will be shown off at E3, on the Nintendo Treehouse Live stream. This will be on the 14th of June. The same stream will be showing off Pokémon Go a day later, on the 15th of June.

I see that @The Voltagonist has found a nice home in my new Pokedex (and I am definitely nicknaming my Pokedex Grant).

I'm so happy to see the full body images for the NPCs! Kukui is such an awesome name~ and confirmed multiple islands to travel to! I'm super excite ahhHhHHH <3333

Yep, *Sigh* this is what I was afraid of...

No new pokemon YET

But in all it was "hype"

Don't get me wrong it was a great "hype"

(Sarcasm not encluded)

omfg, Sunne and Moone. as Chaucer says I absolutelye cannote withe thys

Professor Kukui with his safety glasses, close-toed shoes, and BARE CHEST UNDER HIS OPEN LAB COAT-- dude! dude!!! health and safety is going to have a field day with you bruh!

The pokedex rotom is actually kind of crazy-- is this the first talking pokemon we've met in the games?

Ehh, the Chicken Hat is ok I guess. They could have done a bit better, but it really sets this female protagonist apart from the others.

I really want Sun! For some reason when I see Solgaleo, I don't see an intimidating lion/sun thing, I just see a tiny, cute sun lion cub with big eyes and a smile. XD It's so adorable!

But the design is pretty cool overall, with the galaxy thing going on with his forehead. The steel typing surprised me though. Lunala's didn't really surprise me with the whole Ghost Psychic, but Steel Psychic? I imagined Solgaleo at least being part Fire, for the relation to the sun. That's pretty cool though if you think about it- two game exclusive legendaries with the psychic typing- we haven't seen that since Lugia (and Mew/Mewtwo if you want to count that.). It was looking like all the minor legendaries had the psychic typing.

I'm thrilled with the Rotom Pokedex. XD Love it! ♥

An interesting point to note. If we assume the sun represents fire, and the moon represents darkness, then Sogaleo and Lunala are weak against what they represent, with fire beating steel and dark beating ghost, which is a cool way to think about how the types come into play. Although honestly, I think Sogaleo's interesting type is so that it can have a shiny metal body to help reflect sunlight.

The new Rotom "form" is pretty dang cool. And I can see it becoming a sidekick of sorts, so I kind of hope that's the route they go down when the anime rolls in.

Smart people are getting younger it seems, Professor Cuukoo is the least likely person you'd think to be a professor so far. Yet, on the other hand, he fits perfectly. Field specialists tend to spend many months in remote places studying wildlife and applying experiments in the field, so I imagine this is the kind of professor Kukui is, and the novel idea of using a Rotom to enhance a pokédex is evidence of that.

A rival on a quest for malasala? After a quick check on Wikipedia, I have come the the ultimate conclusion. He is Brock's son. On the ultimate quest to find the perfect jelly-filled donut.

That map has me all kinds of curious. I mean, what's with the completely walled off city? The tiny island in the background obscured by clouds? That giant tree? And most importantly, whats with the super high tech artificial 'island' or whatever that white thing is in the middle of the ocean, that just so happens to have a symbol that looks a lot like the Pokemon Sun symbol on the top of it? That just screams 'plot'. Well, at least that's what I thought - I downloaded the full map that Teapot provided (and Chrome nearly killed itself just trying to load the whole file) to have a closer look, and they're not quite the same. Either way, I need to explore this place. If you have the ability to, I'd seriously recommend downloading the full map - there's so many little details you can find that just aren't visible otherwise.

I'm really curious about the new protagonist's bracelets...those are the same jewels that are found on the Japanese logo...male having the orange one on moons logo and female having the blue one on suns logo.

I've been noticing a few things about the Map.

So with the first trailer, we saw the legendaries right? We saw them with the back ground of a tall mountainous thing with a flat surface. Well on the (large) far left island, we see a pyramid-like mountain with a flat surface. Not to mention the shrine-like white structure in front of that.

The manmade island thing in the center of the map is mostly made of a white material. Our very first look at Sun and Moon showcased an aquarium-like building in one of the photos on the bulletin board or whatnot. For whatever reason, behind the big building on that island, is a smaller building that resembles that aquarium thing.

On that same note, the top right island, there is a building (just above the lighthouse) that looks like that same aquarium thing.

On the bottom right island, on the top right side of the island, there is a green/goldish tower that resembles the Bell Tower. I hope we could catch Ho-oh and Lugia. I mean, Lugia has quite a bit of water to hide in. XD

Back to that top right island, the bottom right side, there seems to be a golf course and a resort. I seriously hope that we can play golf.

Again on the top right island, to the North West of the golf course seems to be a grey-ish building. it reminds me of a stadium or a contest hall- maybe contests are returning?

To the right of that contest hall thing seems to be a small tunnel that leads under the volcano. I wonder if thats a trainer route or maybe a car tunnel- I dont know.

Just a note, the bottom left island, on the far left side, has two ledge like things jutting out from the mountainside. I was all like- "Simba!" XD

Too much water.

(Kidding. I think the region looks fantastic and the PokeDex Rotom is adorable! I can't want to see how much this new navigation system will actually be utilized in Sun/Moon. Trying not to get my hopes up for some form of optional missions/quests but daaaamn would such be a refreshing addition to the series. ^^)

Of all the predictions and expectations I had for this game, a Rotom Pokedex was not one of them. With its hints, reminders, and what not I feel like it's going to make the game annoyingly easy. Now what would be really cool if you can battle with it. Make it an Electric/Steel-type and its special move for the forme Metronome. Why Metronome instead of a Steel-type move? Because it's a Pokedex meaning it already knows every move so why not use them all! >:D

So if Kukui is the Professor, then who is the old man shown giving you your starters? What role will he play beyond that? I would have pegged Lillie as being our secondary rival getting the Starter weak to ours. While she still might play that role, I doubt we'll ever get to battle her considering her aversion to fighting.

The more I see of Alola, the more I love it! Hawaii has eight islands so I had originally predicted Alola might be the same but it seems we only get four main islands. I'm going to hazard a guess that each island has two Gyms. The Elite Four are probably located upon that mountain on the largest island. Also, if each island is going to have its own Pokedex then that means it will most likely have more biodiversity than even Kalos.

The hype for this game is strong enough in me that I think I'm feeling another Let's Play Journal in this game's future. I should probably finish the first one before hand though. >>

I never thought of it like that with the legendaries. That's actually pretty clever.

I got exactly what I hoped for in the trailer, and I'm honestly glad we're only getting trickles of information. XY's ad campaign ended up spoiling a considerable amount of the game and I feel that greatly affected the experience. Game Freak seems to be giving just the right amount of info to speculate and get excited lver, and I hope it stays that way in the coming months.

I'm loving the characters introduced sl far and I'm thrilled at the prospect of multiple islands to explore, like the Sevii Islands but larger! I'm so excited for this game aaaaa

Lot's of stuff here!

First off Alola, looks even better than I thought! It's definitely going to surpass Hoenn as the prettiest region. The Rotom-dex is innovative and a really cute addition! It's kinda funny that they did this for Rotom three generations after its debut.

Now the legendaries! The designs are good. The typing and abilities...leave much to be desired. I give Game Freak props for not going with the obvious Fire and Dark typings, I would've lived Fire-Steel despite the repeat. It would've been nice to have more unique abilities for Solgaleo and Lunala, but oh well. I'm hoping that Solgaleo's abilities block stat drops from burns or paralysis as well though.

Edit: I finally figured out who Lunala reminds me of!

Oh look, another "sexy" professor

I-I feel a disturbance in the fanbase

It's Naughty

Oh yeeeeeeeeeeeeees (ok, didn't mean for that reference... I swear.)

But seriously I can see it now...

This looks really cool, I can't wait. I might hold off on buying it in November as I'm 99 percent sure this is what my mom will get me for Christmas.

Okay, I shall be running over this map quickly (not literallt running across it or, because I will be sailing most of the way *pun)
upload_2016-6-3_13-55-16.png

Okay, top left seems to the be the starting island, it will most likely house 1 gym.

Bottom left island seems to be a desert-like island, with a dark rock area which will most likely spurt boiling water; looking carefully I cannot see much of a town, so it will most likely not house a gym, but there is a weird temple-ish structure at the top of the hill, a see a white platform with a triangle behind it, so maybe a gym is housed there.

Top right island seems to have a volcano with steam coming out. There seems to be 2-4 towns on this island, so assuming there is 2-3 gyms on this island, (gym count: 5 max). There also seems to be some sort of waterfall structure at the north-west corner.

And finally the bottom right island, which seems to be the biggest. It has a giant mountain on top with ice there (so likely the place where you catch ice types, like Shoal Cave for Hoenn). Here there seems to be 2-5 towns, so likely again 2-3 gyms (gym count: 8 max). I'd say that this island seems to be the big city area, like Lumiose City from Kalos.
