I think that's bad. If the ones who did it only realized after they got all the strikes, they can't do anything. It should wear off after a year...

It's very rare that we put someone in read only forever – it's generally only for a couple of weeks to a month or so. We only put people in read only permanently if they are persistently breaking the rules, or are flaming/trolling badly enough that they'd warrant it straight away.
