    Sprites take a lot of effort and stuff, but one of the better ways to learn is by using base sprites (which you can find from spriters-resource and similar places) and editing them in an image-editing software. If you're running Windows, most computers come with Paint, which is good enough to use when spriting. Be sure to always use the pencil tool and to zoom in as much as you can to get all the details ^^
